loved this place - cheap, bustling with locals, great food

Came here 3 times in 2 days, stumbled across it as it was close to our hotel and it was FULL of locals. We gave it a shot and ordered randomly from the menu and it was delicious. Simple, local vegetarian food (don't expect "Western style" we tried most things on the menu, the most delicious was the mushroom with citronella. the com is rice with a different type of veg.

Pros: cheap, good portion sizes, good variety of veg, ho

Cons: english menu is terribly translated

Not worthy :-(

Cheap food, not a very good quality food.
Don't waste your time, cheap prices cheap quality, not so sure of cleanliness of the place.
The food was also cold, I don't really trust cold food that is suppose to be hot.

Updated from previous review on 2018-04-03

Cons: bad food, cold , dirty place

Delicious and cheap food

I was not sure about what i was ordering, but it turned out to be good. They do have English menu, but it still wasn't obvious what kind of meals are listed. But the food was really delicious and very cheap!

Pros: Delicious, Cheap, Good location

Cons: Was not obvious what's on the menu

Worst eating experience in Vietnam

Cheap but the place was dirtier than any restaurant ive ever seen. Trash on the ground, horrible scent. All surfaces sticky. Very difficult to enjoy meal. Cramped and loud also. It's an in and out quick eatery. Recommend for anyone on shoestring budget or in a rush but otherwise there are much nicer options fairly close by.

Pros: lots of options, fairly tasty, cheap and fast

Cons: smell, hygiene, atmosphere

Very good food!

I went here with non veg friends and they loved it, so did I! The mock meat is really good but there also are tons of veggies if you're not into that. Beer is cheep, 10k only. I had the chili and lemon grass beef, we also ordered the little pancakes, 15k for two, the snails and a plate of greens and mushrooms. All really tasty and nice staff. Definitely recommended if you're in the area!

Pros: Tons of tasty foods, Reasonable prices, around 2$ for each dish

the cheapest food we’ve had in Asia and really good!

Ok so the only reason I’m not giving 5 stars is because there was litter on the floor which the locals seem to do and be ok with?! And we had to approach the staff to be served BUT other than that...

Food is sooo cheap
Food is tasty and fresh

Really cheap but not up to standard of reviews..

Having spent the best part of last month eating in vegan kitchens and the like throughout Vietnam we can safely say this wasn't that good.

The Com Rice dish did not have much variety and was pretty stone cold. The fried rice dish was over done.

We should have ordered the hot pot per the other reviews.

I can concur with other reviews that it can get quite dirty.. when we went it was pretty filthy but then again it was chocker block with locals and tourists!

It was cheap as anything we've come across though

Pros: Cheap

Cons: Not too clean, Quality isn't up there , Cold dishes

Delicious and cheap hotpot

This was our first hot pot in Vietnam and it also seemed to be cheaper than all the other places. The place was full of locals. They bring you the hot pot to the table with a bunch of fresh ingredients so it is a lot of fun putting it all together. We ordered the small one which was enough for 2 of us.

Really good veg food!

Even though the place isn't that neat and yes the floor is dirty, the food is really really really good and so cheap! We ate the big hot pot today and with 2 drinks we had to pay 70.000 dong, which is nothing! Definitely do not miss this restaurant when you're in Hue.

Pros: English menu, Cheap

Cons: Messy and dirty

so dirty that we decided not to eat there

we let us lead from the very good reviews on happy cow. But when we arrived and sit down, we recognized, how dirty the restaurant is. Though the staff was friendly, this can't compensate the dirty dishes, the ants and food leftlovers on the table etc. A little bit ashamed of the situiation, we just orderd drinks in cans and left without eating anything.

Maybe it is a little bit unfair to give a bad review without having tried anything. But some people attach a big value to hygiene and clean dishes. For those this is not really the right restaurant.

Tasty vegetables

It's a place where also a lot of students come to eat. We have been there three times. When you finally want to eat a lot of healty vegetables you really have to order 'the dish of vegetables' (25k). In combination with the sauce tasted wonderfull and it is a big plate. The fresh springrolls (10k) are really good too.

Pros: Very, very cheap. Quick delivery. Tasty. Healty. G

Cons: None

very cheap tasty vegan food

The food is ridiculously cheap! All the students eat there! The "com" (aka meal of the day) is only 10 000 dongs. Also, the service is SO fast! I tasted everything in the menu and everything is good! Just go there!

authentic, cheap and delicious

We went to this restaurant, because it was right around the corner from our hostel and we were definitely not disappointed! There were no other tourists in the restaurant and we were asked how we found this place.
The food was amazingly cheap and very tasty, there was free green tea as well. We ordered three different "cakes" and the person sitting next to us explained that they were the vegetarian version of Hué's specialties. Try the banh loc! Everything on the menu seemed to be vegan.

Pros: tasty local food, city specialties , cheap price

Cons: none

Try the citronella mushrooms

Local prices and delicious food. Avoid around full/new moon as local Buddhist monks have to eat veggie at this time and it will be packed

Rất ngon, rất rẻ! Very tasty, very cheap!

Most classic Vietnamese dishes are available here at very reasonable prices. We had a hot pot for two, only cost us 50VND! Nice atmosphere with friendly staff & lots of local customers.

Great local food !

Inexpensive and tasty food there. Lot of locals during lunch. Healthy and full tummy for around 50k with drinks. Also very fast and friendly. They got a english menu as well. Arrive early(before 12) for Spring Rolls as they are rare.

Great value

Tasty and inexpensive. Remarkable spring rolls. Hot pots (two can easily share, but I saw families of 5 and 6 also sharing) are a must and you pay 40-50k Dong. At evenings is packed with local families so be patient until you are seated. I think I went at least twice!

Pros: Fresh and clean

Cons: Might get busy

Great food, no frills, very cheap.

The little eatery is packed with locals at meal times which is always a good sign. The menu is very simple with only around 10 dishes to choose from but almost everything is excellent. I can highly recommend the noodle soup, the rice soup and the spring rolls. We ate here around 5 times and we were never disappointed. We also never paid more than 40000vnd for a meal for two.

Pros: great soups, rice and noodles, free tea, English menu, the food is very fast to the table

Cons: busy

really cheap and really good

There is more vegan choices than vegetarian I Think.
I payed 16000 vietnam dong for traditional cakes (try it) and a soup.
And it was delicious, the staff is really nice and the place is also clean.
Go there.

Pros: Lot of vegan choices, cheap as hell, really tradit

Absolute Gem

This place is always packed - mainly with locals - but being in the tourist district, a few foreigners dine here too. It's a fairly no-frills kind of place, where you may have to yell out for service (and don't expect anything as glamorous as a table wipe-down), but when the food is this good and this cheap, who cares?

Pros: delicious food , exceptionally good (set) prices), warm earthy atmosphere

Very tasty food for super cheap and a great vibe.

This is so far the cheapest good I've eaten in Vietnam and possibly some of the best tasting. Had the noodle soup and rice flour rolls, all up it was 30,000. Crazy cheap! And a nice atmosphere with locals. Will be going back as soon as I'm hungry again!

Pros: Delicious and cheap food, a true local chay eatery

Cons: None!

Delicious and cheap!

10,000 vnd for rice/tofu veg (com) and 40,000 for a hotspot:) absolute gem of a place. I think the servers were maybe a little shy to come over because they didn't want to speak English, but the girl sitting next to me helped me out by hollering my order haha I'll be back for sure:)

simple and healthy

My father and I split a hotpot while on vacation in Hue. Although my father thought it to be a bit bland, I appreciated the simple yet fresh mix of vegetables and broth. There was the bonus of price, 50k for a large size, the staffs clear devotion to Buddhism, and an overwhelming amount of local clientele that made this an enjoyable stop for lunch.
