Generous Portions, Styrofoam In Use

We were really surprised to see this restaurant allows indoor dining until 8pm, with take-out available until they close at 8:30pm. ***NOTICE: I learned after visiting here that Merced County is under purple tier restrictions, allowing for outdoor dining only. A friend who lives in Merced avers this is a mom and pop shop, and they don't have the funds to create outdoor dining tables / tents. The Merced police say they cannot enforce guidelines, and the sheriff states he will not enforce these guidelines around restaurants and around mask wearing. I sadly can't recommend going to this restaurant under these circumstances, except maybe to call in your order and pick it up, well-masked, with an abundance of caution. We noticed one large family milling about inside the restaurant near the Plexi-glass area where the servers took orders, all unmasked, not eating but socializing, and really taking up a lot of space, not seeming aware of their environment. I watched one young man walk into the restaurant with his mask on, take a right to the adjoining bar and immediately take off his mask and greet his buddy behind the bar, and proceed to chat it up with him, maskless. Sadly there were no open windows for improving air circulation in this restaurant with its indoor dining. We ordered food from there 2/20/2021, and took a walk outside until our order was ready. Clean, small washrooms available deep inside building.

Staff was friendly. I ordered the crispy tofu appetizer, sautéed in a soy sauce reduction. I also got a side order of peanut sauce and this was SO worth it, as it was a delicious thing to dip my crispy tofu into. I was eyeing the vegetarian eggplant dish, but it turns out the tofu appetizer was plenty of food for one person. My partner eats meat, and got the calamari salad. It was very large, we guess meant to be an appetizer portion. We were pretty happy and full after eating our meals. We each had about 1/3 of our dishes left over for the following morning.

All to-go was in styrofoam; eating sticks also wrapped in plastic. Maybe a waste-reduction strategy for this restaurant would be to eat there in person after COVID, or to order to dine in, and bring your own reusables to pack food in?

Delicious food. The crispy tofu really hit the spot for me, as I wanted some protein and some crunchy goodness. I saw coconut mango sticky rice on the menu, FWIW. Vegetarian entree menu section. I'd have given 4 stars but for the indoor pandemic dining hazards. :(

Pros: Big portions!, Friendly staff!, Delicious crispy tofu!

Cons: Styrofoam packaging for to-go containers, Indoor dining with no windows open for circulation, Many unmasked patrons not eating food

Quick and Yum and Affordable

My band and I ordered a variety of vegan dishes to be delivered to the venue we were playing at while touring through Merced. The food arrived so quickly that we were kinda shocked. The food was piping hot and absolutely dishes. Love the Noods.
