We got the mushroom carpaccio and their truffle fries as a starter. The carpaccio was a bit of a disappointment since the taste was very basic and simple. The truffle fries was amazing!
Read moreFor mains we got the ravioli and their seitan on risotto. The ravioli was way too salty and was definitely missing some green herbs on top and the seitan dish was just all very mushy and not really any different textures in the dish. Both dishes missed some play with colors (it all looked very brown/beige), some balance in flavour and textures.
Our startes came before our drinks - this always makes me a bit annoyed. And actually our mains came before we were done with the started and we still haven’t gotten the drinks yet at this point. A bit too speedy and not a lot of time to enjoy the food nor the drinks.
As a dessert we ordered the lava cake. I am not really sure it was a real lava cake? I feel like the melted chocolate was just added on top of the cake? 😅 but there was again something off with the taste and textures of the cake. The icecream was okay.
All in all, it was waaaay too pricey for what you get and the dishes are very basic (my peak of the evening was the truffle fries 😅), but I enjoyed to be at a full vegan place for once in Brazil 🌱

Just wish we had more time in Rio to go back again. We held back on starters as we wanted to try puddings and we were not disappointed. Okay so it may be ‘more expensive’ than other restaurants in Rio or Brazil for that matter, but who cares when it tastes that good. Definitely a lot cheaper than the U.K too.

Amazing upscale spot in Rio - Edit
We loved Teva, we ate here for dinner twice. The menu is fantastic, so many options to choose from. I included pictures from both nights :). I definitely recommend getting a bunch of things to try and share. The drinks are great too, and the caipirinha was the best I had in Rio. It’s a really cute spot too. One of our favorite places while in Rio and in Brazil, and easily a spot we will always remember! Still dreaming about the truffle fries ☺️ the prices are a little bit more expensive than everywhere else we ate in Rio, but even at the higher price point, we found the prices to be very reasonable and very worth it, and still a lot lower than what we are used to back where we live. Definitely make it a point to visit Teva when you are in Rio!! It is a must. It’s amazing!!!

Large menu choice, very tasty food, diverse flavours. Friendly staff. We had the hummus, Ramen and Wellington and Banoffee; all excellent. A bit pricy but you get what you pay for. Fully vegan and organic. Certified BCorp and recycle their food waste.

Cozy little spot with so many great options. My partner and I have been here 4 times whilst on holiday and have tried many of the dishes, so we can confidently say it is brilliant! We keep going back here because the food is so tasty and every time we are torn between going back for our favourites or trying something new, either way it's a win. We called in twice for dinner, whilst in Rio for a week. This is a fully plant based restaurant in Ipanema. Everything we had the first time was excellent.
Read moreTo start we had black eyed pea fritters with creamy peanut sauce. We also tried the nachos with black bean & corn chilli.
For mains we had moussaka made with grilled zucchini and eggplant layers, mushroom and lentil bolognese & potato Bechamél. We also had a tomato tartare.
The desserts were a flambéed banoffee & some banana churros.
Very good food and drinks and the total bill was not very expensive.
We went back a few days later and everything was good apart from a tofu dish which was quite bland.
Overall a good place for vegan food.

An incredible experience. In the city of Rio de Janeiro, it is undoubtedly the best vegan restaurant (one of the best also among vegans and non-vegans), in addition to being one of the best restaurants in Rio to have drinks (one is better than the other). The starters are amazing (I love the “acarajé” starter) and the main dishes even more so. The experience is great inside the restaurant, with a very well thought out background playlist and a service that is really above average in Rio de Janeiro. The prices may seem higher, but I understand that for the high vegan gastronomy, numerous options of drinks, good music and excellent service, I think it's right there. I usually go to the restaurant to celebrate something important. It became my reference.

A experiência é ótima dentro do restaurante, com uma playlist de fundo muito bem pensada e um atendimento realmente muito acima da média do Rio de Janeiro. Os preços podem parecer mais salgados, mas entendo que pela alta gastronomia vegana, inúmeras opções de drinks, boa música e excelente atendimento, acho que é por aí mesmo. Costumo ir no restaurante pra comemorar alguma coisa importante. Passou a ser a minha referência.

Teva is a cute little restaurant in Ipanema. Their menu is seasonal, and they have some different options for lunch or dinner time. They are all interesting and creative, with a variety of fancy ingredients. I had the Escalope à Piamontese, which is a seitan schnitzel with mushrooms on top of fries and rice with cashew cream and mozzarella. It was quite tasty and the portion was big, but too expensive, in my opinion. The dessert was even more overpriced, despite also being delicious. I had the Banoffee, and there wasn't too much of anything on the plate, which was a pity because everything was really tasty. Anyway, it was a great experience overall. It is noticeable that the food is prepared with care and that the ingredients are of high quality. The service was friendly and efficient. I would definitely recommend visiting Teva when in Rio, just come prepared for spending a lot of money.
