Amazing food - Edit
I ordered the vegan ravioli and it was very good. Nice combination of Al dente vegetables. The bread and dipping sauce they served is also very good and also vegan. The mista salad I ordered without cheese and was very good. Highly recommend.

Good Italian Cuisine - Edit
We had vegan meatballs and salad as starters and the spaghetti with meatballs as well as the vegan ravioli as main. The restaurant is small and was crowded (reservation required). The vegan food was good but not outstanding, we particularly liked the meatballs.

B+ for effort - Edit
Nice they have a few options. Cute place. Just OK food. The Risotto was good but def missing the Parm. The Ravioli was flavorful but also missing the Parm. Weird undercooked mix of veggies with it (green beans, asparagus and carrots) Asked for salt and it helped. Wished we'd brought our own Violife Parmesan!

Enjoyable Italian meal - Edit
I wanted a good, hearty Italian meal while visiting the North End with an omni, and this place had great options for both of us. Cute seating (indoor and outdoor), tasty food, albeit a tad pricey. Waiter knew vegan and even asked to make sure!

My soup, salad, meatballs, and gf penne with red sauce were all wonderful. My husband had the vegan ravioli and it was awesome as well! Gabriel took good care of us and we enjoyed the vegan strawberry 🍓 gelato for dessert! Thank you for having vegan and gluten-free options!

Vegan options and knowledgeable staff! - Edit
Was this the best vegan Italian meal I’ve ever had? No. But, being able to go into a restaurant where the server knows that there is a salad dressing with honey and asks if that’s OK, and then being able to order spaghetti and meatballs, was pretty great! I thought the meatballs were a little tough but there were multiple vegan options, and that was fantastic. I only wish they had a vegan dessert.

Just ok - Edit
We’ve been to May Italian restaurants and though they have vegan and GF options, they are limited and the sauce was just okay, considering the price. I wouldn’t go back.

Lots of vegan options in the Norrh End - Edit
The menu had (v) designations that sometimes listed cheese but the servers are very conversational and will offer to remove it and assure you that the food is vegan. They even had vegan spaghetti and meatballs, I was shocked! The appetizers and entrees were great and the non vegetarian diners were also very happy. We are definitely going back. #Veganuary

Love the vegan options, but needs a little salt - Edit
I love that there are several vegan options available for order! The menu is a bit confusing about the difference between vegetarian and vegan - for example, some items marked with a V had Parmesan in them - for example, the gnocchi, which I ordered, had Parmesan. I think the intention is to let you know what items can be ordered vegan, not necessarily whether they are vegan by default. I ordered it, but just made sure to ask for it vegan, and sure enough, the Parmesan was not on the dish. Basically, assume all cheese here is real cheese, not plant based, as you’re ordering. Otherwise, I was thrilled to see several thoughtful vegan-possible dishes on the menu.
Read moreI tried the meatballs with polenta (VERY convincing - I had to really think back on my memories of real meatballs to make sure this was on the up and up) and the gnocchi. The meatballs and polenta were very tasty, and the polenta does a good job of giving the creamy mouthfeel and texture you’d normally get with ricotta. It was clear with the gnocchi, though, that the Parmesan was important to bring a salty component to the dish. With a bit more salt to compensate for the Parmesan being removed, this would have been a top quality dinner. The gnocchi was fluffy and pillowy, and mushrooms were plentiful. Just wish it had some more salt - I added it to the leftovers when I got home and it was perfect.
Definitely order a side veg to go with dinner. One side veg can be split with two people. I also really liked the olives, but you will get a TON - way more than you can eat by yourself! Get ready to take some home if you’re the only olive fan at the table.
I think there is room for improvement from the vegan perspective here, but I truly appreciate having a nice, vegan-friendly Italian restaurant on hand, even with a few things to watch for as I order. With some minor improvements to the experience - clearer marking of vegetarian vs. vegan on the menu, letting the cooks know how to compensate for seasoning when salty cheeses are left out of a dish, maybe one more thoughtful vegan starter - this would get the highest possible rating for a not fully vegetarian or vegan restaurant (4 star) from me. I’ll return for a nice date night again.
Pros: Thoughtful vegan options, Cute atmosphere, Friendly service
Cons: Vegan vs. vegetarian dishes a bit unclear on menu, Vegan options may need additional salt, Could use one more non-salad vegan appetizer

Cute little spot - Edit
I got the gnocchi with the side of vegan meatballs. Their marinara sauce with the meatballs was so good! I wasn’t blown away by their gnocchi but there were so many mushrooms (which I love) so it balanced out nicely. The waitress was so kind and answered all my questions. It’s a small little place but it’s a wonderful atmosphere.

It was like that scene from ratatouille, where the food was so good that it brought him back to his childhood. I got the vegan raviolis and they were awesome! The sauce reminded me of my nonas. The bread and bean dip was also fantastic. My only complaint was that the service seemed rushed.

EDIT***** - Edit
****I got pork in my vegan gnocchi. I didn’t know it until I had it in my mouth. The pork looked just like the mushrooms. It was obviously an accident and it was two small pieces but the restaurant didn’t apologize and instead sent me a free desert and drink. I’d rather have had the food taken off the bill. My mother’s dish was cooked wrong twice as well (it was a meat dish) but I felt like it was such a flop. I feel bad cause I’ve been here several times and liked it, but last night was a terrible. Just be wary. My original review is below.

Great location and decent menu - Edit
Vegan options are labelled but make sure you tell your server too as sometimes the dish is available as non vegan. Our server was really understanding of veganism which was great. The menu isn't cheap but it's nice for a sit down meal. The atmosphere is nice but the lighting is quite dark. Overall it's a nice place.

Great Italian north end experience with vegan options. - Edit
Small family run Italian restaurant in the North end of Boston. There is a number of vegan and vegetarian options on menu this is why picked this restaurant. The menu is well marked but there is no separate menu as advertised on their website. The vegan risotto was delicious. I would also suggest to add a side veggie for $7. The. broccoli rabe was cooked to perfection and a nice accompaniment to the risotto. This is a great restaurant option if you are dining with omnivores. Make sure you tell the server you special dietary needs.

Amazing!!! - Edit
This place was absolutely amazing! This is one of the only Italian restaurants in the North End that I have found to have good vegan options. I went with a mixed party of vegans and non vegans and everyone was able to find choices that they loved. The bread and bean dip they serve is great and vegan! They also have a smaller vegan menu with options like spaghetti and vegan meatballs and vegan ravioli. Definitely recommend this restaurant! And the service was great!

One of the few Italian restaurants in Boston’s North End that actually has vegan - Edit
That said, don’t assume what you order will be vegan. You must be specific with the server or just tell him at the beginning and he’ll guide you. Check the website for the vegan menu before you go as there is no vegan menu at the restaurant offered and we have eaten there 3 times in the last 2 weeks. Their main menu at the restaurant doesn’t present itself as clearly as the specific vegan one on their website. For instance, the standard risotto on the menu that the server provides is not vegan unless you tell him you are vegan. The risotto is made from scratch for you! Don’t expect them to deconstruct an eggplant parm, (as an example) but if you stick to the items they offer vegan, you’ll be fine and have a wonderful experience. They have a vegan meatball which is the frozen one you buy at the market, not homemade, but it’s nice that they offer one. The ravioli is excellent as is the arugula salad- excellent light dressing. Whatever you have here you will enjoy and leave full. The server, Andy (there is only one) has worked there for 22 years. Very knowledgeable, and really keeps the show moving but not in a pushy way. It’s a small restaurant - doesn’t look like it can seat more than 25, reservations are required unless you get lucky, but that’s doubtful. So now you can eat in the North End like an Italian!
