Nice, but not as vegan as it says - Edit
The food was nice, the setting pretty, but when the menu says 'plat based'... is it though?
Read moreThe fritter desserts have plant based symbols, but then in the description it says butter or coconut oil. When I asked for coconut oil, the waiter had no idea what I meant - which I din't think was a language barrier, he just couldn't see why that was an option or what to do about it. I have no idea whether my fritter was vegan or not in the end, but I am quite sure the big dollop of dairy ice-cream it came with wasn't.
I get that sometimes I need to compromise on holiday and be vegetarian if I want to eat out, but it's a bit rubbish when restaurants describe food as vegan or plant based when they don't really know what that means.
Pros: Nice beach setting, Food tasted nice
Cons: Says things are plant based when they're not

Vegan paradise - Edit

Nice Place, but the owner…. - Edit
Recently! I was more than 4 weeks nearly daily enjoying this place. The food was excellent because of a great chef. Saidly I got told that he is leaving. Therefore one has to try the new one.
Read moreVery nice and attentive girl in service.
Through this weeks I caught confidence to the owner Mr. Terrick.
When he offered me a two days tour I agreed even I thought he is asking far too much. It become a disaster! Nothing really prepared! On top he was so tired all the time that on both days he stopped beside the street several times to have a nape and ask me though I could drive his car being to tired. Of course I refused. He drove very slowly …. Therefore I “enjoyed” the singhales streets more instead seeing places of interest. Happened more incredible thinks but it’s not the place to tell…..
Enjoy the place but don’t trust ANY offer Terrick, the owner, may suggest. His partner is a very nice Lady from Holland.
Pros: The location, the staff
Cons: Owner

Beware of the moneytrick - Edit
First of all, it is a nice place to sit. But the fruitjuices are the most expensive ones we had in Sri Lanka but are diluted with sugar water. We ordered one glass of Sri Lankan tea and then got the more expensive pot of ginger tea. We didn’t complain because people can make mistakes. And then we paid the male waiter and even gave a tip. Then he came back and said we didn’t pay enough and gave us the money back without the 1.000 rupees banknote. I immediately felt we got tricked.
Read moreWe were sure we paid enough and that it was with a 1.000 rupee banknote so I told him and he was sure not, but I could see in his eyes he was lying. The female waitress then interfered, and he walked to the beach. De said I will look on the beach and there she suddenly found the 1.000 rupees. But it was folded. So he must have dropped it there when he went back.
So most expensive meal and even first time in Sri Lanka someone tried to trick us.

Fab vegan options 👌 - Edit
Very friendly & helpful staff (including their lovely dog, Reggie). Location and atmosphere are great - there's even a hammock on their part of the dining area. Great music and absolutely delicious food. Reccomend the Sawan curry, definitely worth a tuk tuk ride if you're a hungry vegan.
