Good food, many vegan options - Edit
I love the vegan options in this restaurant such as the lasanyuki, the black rice, and most of the deserts are great too. Their menu now has a couple of new options, although a few of my favorites are not available anymore. It’s good, but not as good as it has been.

Soy consciente de que Teresa Carlés es toda una institución, pero con respecto a la comida vegana/plant based esta experiencia ha sido francamente decepcionante. Los rollitos de berenjena, que se suponen que iban a estar rellenos de ‘ricotta plant based’ en lugar de eso tenían una especie de carne del aspecto de comida para las mascotas y un sabor que me recordaba al estofado que servían el el comedor del colegio (nada grato). Imagino que la ricotta era una salsa blanca prácticamente líquida que iba por encima, aunque puede que eso fuera simplemente la mayonesa con la cual se supone que también iba el rollito. El arroz del senyoret, que se supone que iba con calamar y vieras plant based, tenía unas cuantas tiras de algo blanco crujiente que para nada tenía la textura o el sabor del calamar, y tres trocitos de seta que imagino hacían las veces de vieras. Es resto era arroz de paella (valgan las fotos como referencia) sin un sabor particular más que a cebolla, ajo (de los cuales creo que abusan en esta cocina) y quizá algo de tomate. Lo único digno de señalar era el two texture chocolate cake. Para ser sin gluten estaba bastante bien. Lo que en su día podría haber sido celebrado (Teresa lleva ofreciendo opciones veganas y sin gluten desde hace bastante tiempo), hoy no está a la altura del un mercado veggie mucho más desarrollado, la falta de imaginación e incorporación de proteína de origen vegetal evidentes en un menú anticuado y poco equilibrado. Teresa y su equipo deberían de darse una vuelta por la multitud de establecimientos sirviendo comida vegana en la ciudad para coger nuevas ideas y quizá hacer un curso de nutrición para proporcionar platos que satisfagan cuerpo y mente.

Hace una semana estuve en el barco de Balearía y vi en una revista el artículo sobre cocina de Teresa Carles y me llamó mucho la atención porque desde hace dos años comemos principalmente vegetales y legumbres. Hoy hemos ido a comer al restaurante Teresa Carles con mucho ilusión. Primero, he encontrado el restaurante un poco oscuro y sin mucha luz. Por lo menos en la parte donde teníamos la mesa. En nuestra sala había solo un camarero que estaba corriendo sin parar encargado de muchas mesas a la vez. El trato ha sido muy amable y educado pero con prisas. De los tres platos principales nos ha traído solo dos y mi marido estaba con su plato en frente de él esperando para que me trajeran mi pedido. Mi canelón salió 15 min más tarde. Yo pedí otra caña y nunca la trajeron. En la mesa al lado paso exactamente lo mismo. Una familia de tres personas tenía dos platos principales ya en la mesa y el tercer plato lo han traído 20 minutos más tarde. Nos pareció muy raro esta coincidencia. La comida estaba buena. Nos han gustado los platos, bien hechos y sabrosos. Pero en general la impresión del restaurante ha sido un poco caótico y sin armonía.

Over time this place has lost its soul - Edit
It saddens me to write this review. Teresa Carles used to be amongst the very best vegetarian restaurants in Spain. Having now returned after some years, I must say that it is no longer worth the price as many other restaurants will be offering more exciting options. We tried three different mains and nothing was much better than the experience on a random day in my own kitchen. It was only the desserts that still were very enjoyable.

While the food was, on the whole, good (not great), we were very disappointed by the service. Our waiter was incredibly impatient and appeared bored and irritated. We'd heard good things about Teresa Carles but we wouldn't go back.

I was in the city for work, hadn’t planned ahead, and just stumbled on this place round the corner from my hotel. It was a gift from the gods. Staff were lovely and gracious; food was excellent, gorgeous glass of wine - a real treat - I’m only sorry I was too exhausted to make it all the way through the menu to postres.
