Nice option

The kenchin onigiri set is the only vegan option on the menu.
Delicious but not very filling and for 1100yen quite expensive I thought. But the old building is very beautiful.
It is possible to have shojin ryori for lunch as well but only for reservation at least 3 days in advance.
The curry is not vegan/vegetarian!
They use meat stock.

For Kenchin vegetable soup

It used to be the restaurant Hachinoki known for Shojin Buddhist temple cuisine. Since last year, it has been changed to Tenshin-an but keeping almost the same interior decoration for the main hall with tatami and chairs.
For the menu, only 2 choices without meat and fish. Kenchin-jin vegetables soup, 2 onigiri rice balls only with salt and a dish with simmered vegetables (990 yen) or Kenchin-jiru Soba buckwheet noodle (1020). They say that the recipe of Kenchin-jiru is the same as what is served at the Temple Kenchoji.
There are several sweets (Gateau au chocolat, cheese cake, panna cotta, Matcha Ice cream, pudding) but none for vegan dessert. I asked them to add at least one in menu and their answer was "Kaki-gori" ! Only during the summer time (June - August), there will be the Kaki-gori, shaved (snow) Ice with tea matcha, sweet red beans etc.
Located next to the entrance of Kenchoji temple, the first zen temple in Kamakura. It is a nice quick lunch before or after the visit to the temple.

Pros: Good to find vegan menu in Kita-Kamakura, Taste of Kenchin-jiru veggie soup is fine, Located next to Kencho-ji temple

Cons: Only 2 choices of vegan dishes, Many desserts non vegan, Very crowded before 1 pm.
