Really good quick food - Edit
After a long journey down to Hackney we needed something quick and filling. This place ticked all criteria. We had the Nashville and the Buffalo burgers, One with fries, one with tater tots.
Read moreAll tasted great and were freshly made I’d say the buffalo burger was slightly better (but messier)
I wouldn’t bother with the cheese topping for the tots. It came in a separate bowl and was very runny and didn’t actually add anything. I’d personally ask for a dipping sauce instead.
Pros: Fully vegan , Made fresh, Great flavour

Looks like the baps/buns have changed! I remember them being different several years ago! Are the burgers still delicious?

Temple of Seitan is a great spot. It’s usually pretty busy so be prepared to wait. Serving size is respectable too.

Hellz Angle's - Edit
A chicken shop that does fake meat in the style of chicken, is your main selling point here. Which is a lovely idea and the food is not bad, but for me what holds it back is the usual criticism I have of fake meat: texture isn't firm enough and can be rubbery.
Read moreThe very enthusiastic staff were all very nice and helpful, and quick to boot.
Ordered the wings with buffalo sauce, wings soaked in sauce with fries on side, then the two piece which is like 2 flatbreads made out of rubbery fake meat. The wings were more palatable, but not the best I have had.
Milkshake was stellar have to say, got a small biscoff one and it was thicker than Liz Truss's PR firm.
Art interesting, shop itself very small and offers take out. Have to say the roof is noticeably very dusty for some reason and looks like it hasn't been cleaned in ages, zoom in on roof photo for confirmation.
In summary if you want acceptable and guaranteed vegan junk food quickly, and like imitation meat, you should enjoy it.
Pros: Quick service , great packaging , Friendly and helpful staff , Cheap esp for London
Cons: Rubbery 🍖, Not much if any sit in space

Changed recipe isn’t good - Edit
I used to love coming to the place but they changed their vegan chicken recipe and it’s not improved anything to me,it’s worse! They said they wanted it to look more textured but doing that when you eat it now, it’s a lot softer bite and no texture, just like rubbery tofu! Also the Chicken is now made into flatter shape and they’ve reduced the portion size which is a shame.
Read moreSo disappointing as this was my regular go to place, but I know other people like this new recipe so I guess they’ll keep it. I won’t ever go back though!
Cons: Texture of chicken wrong, Gone backwards with changing recipe, it’s worse! , Portion size reduced

When did the recipe change? Also is it just hackney or all their branches?

Great vegan junk food! - Edit
We ordered the double burger sharing menu with two burger, two sides and wings (so much food!), and it was all amazing! The sharing menu is a lot of food, for a nice price! The total was around £29-30 including two drinks. Note that the place is very small (2 tables), so it seems like this location is mostly for takeaway.

Tasty chicken - Edit
Had the Nashville Hot burger with fries and garlic mayo. The chicken was delicious- nice and juicy and the texture was great. I was expecting a hot sauce situation but instead the chicken is rolled in a spice mix. I wasn’t sure about this at first but actually it was tasty. I would probably try a different chicken burger next time though. Garlic mayo and chips were lovely.
Read moreCustomer service was ok- the staff don’t really interact with you. The restaurant itself is tiny and not very appealing- harsh lights with no ambiance/good decor. I saw a good few ants on the table and floor where I was eating.
Overall would definitely go again, food was tasty and it was good value😄
Pros: Delicious chicken, Good value, Good options available
Cons: Restaurant is tiny, Ants, Customer service not great

Changing the game with the vegan chicken, it’s incredible. They used to do loaded fries with a different topping to the one they currently do, so a bit of a letdown, but the food is still incredible.

Cheap, tasty vegan junk food! - Edit
I love a Temple of Seitan – the food is really good value, the portions are big and I always come away feeling really satisfied and full. This branch is much smaller than the Camden one and can only seat around 4 people so it's more of a takeaway place but we still managed to get a table when we went. We got a Temple Burger, Classic Wings, Animal Snack Pack and a pot of gravy – all of which came to just over £20! The Temple Burger was really good with a massive “chicken” fillet. The classic wings were excellent as always and went really well with the pot of gravy which was very big and just delicious! If you haven’t been to Temple of Seitan before I’d recommend trying the classic wings as they are what Temple of Seitan is all about! The Animal Snack Pack was also delicious and a really big portion – it’s basically a meal on its own!

This tiny shop had a decent selection of vegan fried chicken takeaway. The food was fine, nothing spectacular but better than some others I’ve had. Handy to stop into if you’re hungry on your way home.

Poor customer service - Edit
Staff didn’t even bother to acknowledge my presence and continued with the conversation between us. No engagement so was forced to use the interactive ordering system. This was rather confusing because the menu board on display had options the ordering system was not displaying so quite confusing. Ordered cutlery for takeout to find not included when I got back to my room. This made it rather a messy and not particularly pleasant experience when trying to eat coleslaw and the doner kebab fries. Had heard great things about temple of seitan and expected to have the same type of experience people were recording at the Hackney branch so all in all a bit of a disappointing experience. It’s not as though they were particularly busy either. We were the only ones in the shop when we entered.

The restaurant ordering system is atrociously complex. Not at all user friendly and even the staff didn’t know how to use it. You can’t order via the human interface so you have to use the screen.

The “chicken” was amazing - Edit
After unsuccessfully looking for another cafe, we came here instead for lunch. I got a snack box with chips and chicken. I also got some gravy with it. The sauce that came with it wasn’t to my taste so I was glad I got the gravy, despite it being very thin. I thought the chicken was amazing. We also had a lotus biscoff shake. There was a generous amount of whipped cream but I couldn’t taste the biscoff very much.

Nice Ambiance but Unrefined Flavors - Edit
After reading many positive reviews of Temple of Seitan my expectations were high.
Read moreThe restaurant is located inside of a building with other restaurants and two levels of seating. The seating area is nice and filled with plants. After ordering I was given a buzzer to alert me when the order was ready. The employee seemed to be having a bad day and wasn’t very talkative but I understand that can happen.
I ordered the Temple Burger which was quite disappointing. The vegan bacon was soft and chewy, lacking any crispiness. The fillet was thin and tasted greasy. The breading was not very textured and could be better if it were hand molded on instead of just tossing it in breading which I suspect is what was done. Having worked with seitan at a restaurant in the past I know that it can taste much better. I was expecting the ranch to balance out the burger but it was over salted. Overall the burger felt confused and lacking care.
While my food came out quick and the price is relatively good, I would not come back here.
Pros: Fully vegan
Cons: Poorly Seasoned

Hail Seitan - Edit
Absolutely delicious vegan fried chicken, I cannot fault this place at all! Tasty, cheap, saucy, great location, lots of options, friendly staff- it's one of my favourite places in Hackney. Don't miss out!
Read moreI recently ordered the strips and chips, which is 2 strips, a portion of chips and a pot of sauce for a fiver - I worried that it might be a little small, but it was a huge portion, I shouldn't have worried!
My partner got the 4 BBQ wings and a portion of chips, again, perfect size for him and a total bargain. We also shared an additional portion of wings which were smothered in hot sauce - so good!
Whenever we go here we head up to the churchyard a few minutes walk away, it's a lovely place to sit and enjoy the food as there are only a few tables in the establishment and it gets pretty busy in there (Uber Eats drivers etc)
We're so lucky to have such amazing vegan options these days! It's easy to be vegan!!!

Great textured Seitan chicken - Edit
We’ve been wanting to try this place for years, but haven’t got around to it. To our surprise there was this branch near kings cross (I thought it was only Camden!) and we had a few hours to kill and two hungry tummies to feed- perfect.
Read moreLocation is lovely, nice and cool in this heatwave we’re having. Ordering very easy via QR code and very pleasant and attentive wait staff.
Food: we tried two Nashville hot burgers and a large fries. The fries were exceptionally well seasoned- 10/10. The Seitan burger was also very tasty- super kudos for the softest and most realistic textured Seitan we’ve had. The spice mix on the Nashville packed a good punch, and was paprika heavy which was to our tastes. I would’ve preferred more sauce and pickles in the burger- they were both very tasty but wanted more to balance out the flavours a little.
We’ll definitely be returning, reasonable prices and tasty food.

Amazing Vegan Fried Chicken - Edit
A somewhat regular customer, my go to takeaway for something a bit greasy. Normally get the popcorn chicken (pictured) but also had the burgers and wings before. Popcorn is definitely the most bang for your buck!! I love to dip them in the gravy 🤤. Of course not healthy but I'm vegan for the animals lol, a nice treat on occasion. Not the cheapest but not crazy expensive. £10 for the popcorn, regular fries and drink if you get a combo. Mac n cheese is also very good! Pretty much always get takeaway and have never been to the hackney branch irl so can't comment on the actual store.

Tasty, decadent vegan fast food - Edit
I tried their vanilla milkshake, seitan wings, tater tots and seitan chicken burger. All very tasty, though the wings and seitan chicken burger were the same - if you order one you don’t really need to have the other. The tater tots could do with being a bit crispier. First time having “fried chicken” since going vegan - very much enjoyed it!

Yummy seitan - Edit
Temple of Seitan (king’s cross) is in a joint building with several other restaurants. You can order takeaway directly from the restaurant, or you can be seated, order your food online (from any of the restaurants, including temple of seitan, as well as from the facility’s drinks menu) and have the food brought to you. The “chicken” was good, we especially enjoyed the “wings”/Buffalo chicken. My favorite was the Mac and cheese, it was topped with sour cream and vegan bacon.
