May order online. Open Mon-Sun 10:30am-10:00pm.

Good food, great service - Edit
Great place to go with friends as the dishes are family style, easy to order many options and share with friends. A little pricy, but the portions are fairly large.

A family favorite - Edit
Tea House is one of my family’s favorite restaurants. There are enough vegan options for us to cycle through and get variety each time. The scalded chili noodles are a recent discovery. Green beans, eggplant and tofu dishes never disappoint.

Not your typical Chinese restaurant - Edit
Chinese restaurant with entree items not found in many typical Chinese restaurants. Well-made, delicious food. Many vegan vegetarian items, staff knowledgeable about chicken stock, other sneaky nonveg ingredients. Meat dishes can be veganized. Charming but relaxed ambience suitable for date night or a casual night out. Family tofu, pan fried veg dumplings were excellent. Mapo tofu (made meatless to order) was too salty but tasty. Efficient, friendly service. Can't wait to come back!

Favorite restaurant in town - Edit
My husband and I go here way more often than the fully vegan restaurants in town (including the one two blocks from our house.)
Read moreThe other review mentions a lot of good dishes (the bitter melon/eggplant/green beans are a favorite as are the scalded chili noodles) but misses some other great options. The shredded potato is good, the house spicy tofu is great (and one order is enough entree for two people) and the scallion pancake is very good if a little oily. Szechuan vegetable dumplings are tasty as well. When they have it, watermelon juice is great.
Make sure to try the weekend brunch menu, it’s smaller plates and a lot of fun to try different things. Celery and tofu stick with tree mushroom, cucumber salad, peanut and smoked tofu, and spicy shredded potato are all really good and most are only available during the weekend brunch hours. The hot soy milk available on weekends is super creamy and sweet.
Pros: Items are at least marked vegetarian on menu, Unique menu for the area, Can be really inexpensive
Cons: Have to be careful with a few dairy/egg items, Service can be slow — not great if you’re rushing

mellow vibe and delicious vegetables! - Edit
I don't normally mention decor, but Tea House is very pretty, with thoughtful acoustics that make it easy to hear your dining companions even when it's very crowded (which is often). The Twin Cities have a lot of good Chinese restaurants, but this may be closest to what a beloved home cook would make. Szechuan Cold Noodles weren't the same as the sesame noodles I'm used to -- less sesame paste and more spice. Scalded Chili Noodles are handmade and have that homey, thick texture that make one think of hearty dumplings from a variety of cuisines. We loved the Family Tofu, which partners fried tofu with leeks, black mushrooms, and bamboo tips in a bean sauce. It would bring you back to life on a painfully cold day. So would the pan-fried eggplant, bitter melon, and green beans. Flavorful, homey food featuring lots of healthy dark greens!
