Thanks to my non-vegan friends who were looking for a vegan friendly place close to the lake for me, we were lucky enough to find Antonella with her amazing vegan home restaurant by the lake! The food is simply delicious, freshly made, very simple but very tasty, and her hospitality will just warm your heart! 100% approved, also by my non-vegan friends!!

Wow what an amazing experience! My girlfriend and I came here for lunch on an absolutely beautiful day in September 2022. Antonella was so friendly and accommodating. We took the ferry from Bellagio to Lierna. Not only was the food and service incredible, she gave us so many tips for other plant-based options in different cities in Italy. We will definitely return the next time we’re here. If here in the summer, bring a suit because her place is right in front of a beautiful relaxing beach to take a swim.

It was a relief to find a 100% vegan option in this region of Italy, but then it became a wonderful experience to meet Anto and her delicious food.

You reserve your menu at least two hours in advance, you eat at her place, with limited number of seats, you pay by cash only and you regret not finding such places more often in Italy...

Intimate home cooked Italian dinner - Edit
The place is basically a kitchen with a table, so you feel like you are eating at your friend's place. When we came there were some other guests at the table which we didn't expect but it ended up as a funny interaction where both of us tried to speak Italian or English. The food itself was simple and nice. Would recommend this place if you don't mind to have interaction with strangers and the chef during your dinner.

We had a wonderful experience at Anto’s restaurant. We emailed a day ahead and planned our order after seeing her on happy cow. I like that we know there is no food waste by using this order ahead system. Unfortunately we took and wrong train and were going to be late! We let her know by email and she was so kind about it.
Read moreWhen we arrived our aubergine parmigiana were in the pan! The kitchen smelt amazing! We had chosen take out, but there is also the option to sit in and have a sort of tasting/set menu. Anto was so welcoming and boxed them up for us to take to the beach which is literally 10 foot steps from her front door! The food came with plastic cutlery and disposable containers but as Anto boxes it in front of you I am sure she would let you bring your own!
The food was delicious! The aubergines were cooked to pull-apart perfection and I was still savouring the taste of the sauce hours later! I must tell you about the mozzarella. I think a lot of people go wrong with trying to capture the texture of mozzarella in vegan substitutes and lose the taste entirely. Not Anto, her mozzarella was soft and somewhere between crumbly and stretchy. You can tell it is homemade with quality ingredients. I know I will be thinking about it for a long time to come.
And now for the wonderful hospitality extended to even take out customers: after our delicious meal we took a swim to take in the amazing views of lake como at sunset. It was so magical we didn’t notice the last train pulling out of the station… we tried to ask a few other nearby businesses but nobody could help. We found our way back to Anto who was so helpful. She called numerous people trying to find us a taxi one town over to trains that run later. Unfortunately she was unsuccessful but a lovely couple who were dining in at her house offered us a ride to the station we needed to get to. Many thanks to Anto for facilitating this!

An incredible meal. I came here with my husband in search of quality vegan food, but our expectations were eclipsed by the most wonderful Italian cultural experience we have had since arriving in Italy 4 nights ago.
Read moreAfter enjoying a sleepy, sunny afternoon on the beach at Lierna, it was time for our 7:00 diner reservation at Antonella’s “home restaurant.” It was a much more personal experience than I had been expecting, and honestly it was like a vegan tourist fantasy.
Imagine us, vegetarian tourists from America who have no connections in Italy at all. I can hardly imagine a scenario where we are invited into someone’s home, that person is a professional chef, and all the food is vegan! We didn’t just have good food, we had an amazing time, and a cultural exchange that surpassed any expectations.
Getting to know Antonella was such a pleasure. It was wonderful to see the passion that she has for bringing generations of classic Italian cuisine into a contemporary vegan perspective, and I couldn’t be happier with how authentically homey her restaurant is compared to the touristy cafe’s so common around Lake Como. 10/10 an absolute must for vegetarians looking to have a “taste” of Old Italy that seems locked up behind a wall of prosciutto.
