Beautiful Experience, Delicious Food - Edit
I had such a beautiful experience at this restaurant that I returned every day that I was in Guanajuato. The food was delicious, vegan and gluten-free, and the chef/owner Lucy is the kindest person to chat with. Highly recommend to all, but especially to the vegan, the gluten-free traveler, the traveler who enjoys local dishes, and the traveler who enjoys company with their meal

Best Food In Guanajuato - Edit
Everything was so delicious! I liked how there are only a small group of customers at a time, which made it for a unique experience being able to connect with the other people and Lucy the amazing chef. All the food was made with kindness and love, which I felt radiated from the place.

Delicious food prepared before your eyes by an expert vegan cook. Just a wonderful experience - eating a great meal while talking about vegan food and healthy living. The menu was tacos when I was there - three different imaginative fillings, including a chickpea tempeh that was so much better than the normal soy.

Read moreThe menu del dia yesterday was cauliflower puree and vegan lasagna. Lucy started us off with a refreshing rosemary limonada...squeezed to order. Next came the perfectly seasoned cauliflower soup/puree. The masterpiece of the main entree was next...a large portion of an amazing lasagna chocked full of veggies and topped with a vegan becamel and a plant based mozzarella.
I love that this place offers a different menu every day....Ill be BACK!!! ..Oh..by the way....she is open Wed thur Sat... 1:30 thru 6. Reservations are recommended because it is so popular.

Home-cooked Gourmet vegan offerings in a special place! - Edit
This simple, single-room venue seats less than 8 people, so reservations are pretty much required! (Owner speaks English if you're calling.) We didn't make a reservation (oops) but thanks to Lucy's kindheartedness we were able to squeeze in and she included us despite not accounting for an extra 2 people. Chill music set the scene when diners weren't conversing amongst each other. There is a daily set (vegan) menu with multiple courses but I'm sure customization is available if you have any allergies/taste preferences. i don't believe wine or beer is available but a homemade flavored water was included. The food was AMAZING, well-plated, and very inexpensive for the quality of effort/service the owner provides (I think the dinner was 180 pesos?). I remember having a unique, tasty salad, a creamy squash soup with accoutrements, and an overflowing vegetable-stuffed baked potato entree. Others had a large stuffed mushroom. I would say the cuisine is 'international'/general vegan (vs. Mexican, but I'm sure Mexican occasionally pops up too). Honestly Lucy should have her own gourmet restaurant -- I'm sure that's the goal! please support her and enjoy an excellent meal in this intimate, quirky atmosphere). Thanks Lucy, 5 stars!

Can be hard to find, but worth the visit! It was like joining a friend for dinner in their home. I was served a drink, soup, salad, potato, and a lentil mix. It was delicious. If you sit at the counter be prepared to chat as Lucy encourages conversations with her and other guests. When I ate it was 175 pesos.

A friend brought us to Tazón de Barro. It's easy to miss; it's on the left-hand side of Positos, if you're headed for the Alhondiga. It's no. 70, but look inside each doorway you pass as it's in an inner courtyard. Although there's a separate small dining room, we sat at the counter and chatted with the chef, Lucy, as we watched her prepare chiles en nogada, vegan style. They were delicious! The dinner also included soup and limonada. Best to reserve ahead of time, as it's so small. And not the place to be if you're rushed. But if you have time, don't miss it!

Amazing intimate dinner - Edit
Delicious, thoughtfully made food! We arrived an hour before closing time and the owner welcomed us in and sat us in a private space surrounded by herb plants. She prepared each course herself and fully explained each dish and its ingredients as she brought them out. The flavors were incredible! Best vegan food and experience in Guanajuato!

Tiny Space with Big Heart & Even More Flavor - Edit
Tazon de Barro is an intimate setting with a communal feel (a bar with 6 stools surrounding the small cooking space). The chef serves up the meal of the day and everything is plated beautifully on/in earthenware which is suiting since the name of the place translates to “clay bowl”. The food is unprocessed and made with love. The chef makes her own hard cheese and crema. The experience that one gets here is truly delectable, but also personable. It won’t be like this forever because with an ambiance like this Tazon de Barro is bound to grow into something much grander.

What a gem this place is! You can tell that everything is made from scratch and with so much love. We ate here several times a week since everyday the meal of the day is different and always so delicious. Lucy and her partner are the nicest people too. Highly recommend!

Are you ready for a super high vibe, high energy meal? Are you down for nutrient dense AND super delicious? You have to try Tazon de Barro! I wish I could stay in town longer to enjoy this super special food and the charming hostess here. Maybe you just need a break from heavier meals but you still want to feel full, this place has you covered. The portions are generous and the company is top notch. We ate there yesterday, on the owner's birthday! The burgers were good, nothing special, but she added awesome toppings and everything was well seasoned. The tomato soup was very good, again well seasoned and so creatively flavored. The venue is intimate and warm, and the owner really seems knowledgeable about vegan food and healthy eating.

Healthy, delicious, handmade in front of you food. The pizza I had was the best I have had in years. The drinks, soups, salads - all worth your trip to this cute hole in the wall restaurant on Positos. My friends and I call it Lucy's kitchen because we talk, laugh, swap stories all while watching Lucy whip up her delicious, magical, good for you food. It's a hidden gem right here in Guanajuato. I highly recommend it. Tiny and cozy place!!
