Firstly, if you find yourself craving vegan cheese in the middle of the night then this could be the place for you, it never closes....ever. For this reason I've given it 3 stars because it's very convenient, and compared to some other IGAs it's not bad.
Read moreHOWEVER for quite a big store there isn't a lot of choices for vegans. I had popped in hoping to pick up something quick for lunch as I was out and about. There's a really big hot food bar, and a ready made salads bar, also a fridge full of ready made sandwiches, and ready made meals, BUT I couldn't see one thing in these sections that was suitable for vegans. I wasn't even sure about the fresh bread area because the items didn't have the ingredients or the allergy info listed next to them on the shelves which was a shame as the fresh pretzels looked good.
In one fridge at the back of the store there were a few different types of vegan cheeses, vegan butters, flavoured tofu, and some vegan cookie dough, and a few other vegan bits and bobs. The freezer section had Beyond and VBites so that's good to see! But compared to how big the rest of the shop is there wasn't really a LOT on offer for vegans. However there is definitely enough in the shop to prepare and cook yourself a selection of meals at home, but if you're hoping for a hot meal-to-go, or a ready meal to pop in the microwave then forget it, I came away with a packet of savoury rice crisps for my lunch and a packet of gyozas to heat up in the microwave later on.
