Ended up coming here four times food was so good, the owner is vegan even made us special dishes, by far the best vegan dishes in Malia!

This was such a lovely place to eat! The taverna is so beautiful and there were plenty of vegan options to choose from. We had the Moussaka and vegan bifteki and they were both delicious. I would highly recommend and I would definitely return.

Yannis and the staff have gone to a great length and effort to perfecting the feel of this place. From greeting to sitting you down and engaging in true conversation, asking you where you want to sit, to serving you bottled water with fresh mint and lemon. Even going to the toilet was an immensely pleasant experience with an massive assortment of commodities ranging from toothpaste, toothpics and floss, to glasses wash wipes, Cotton earbuds, Hair gel, Ect... And we haven't even got to the food.

Lovely night with great food, traditional feel and a crisp bottle of wine.

Lovely owner and staff and some really good vegan items on the menue. It's also marked as vegan which makes it easy. Also vegan wine and yummy ice creme. Definitely a place to come back to.

The waitress and waiter were really nice, an the cook came out himself to get our plates and ask how our food was. they had lots of vegetarian and vegan options!

Read moreWhile being a traditional Greek taverna the owner is himself vegan so knows exactly what he’s doing when it comes to serving up vegan food.
We liked it so much we went back 3 times in 4 days. On the 2nd and 3rd time Yannis served us the food he himself had eaten that day and it did not disappoint.
The vegan “burger” is hand made from at least 6 vegetables. The moussaka is adapted to be dairy free using fave and sesame seeds to give the topping over a stunning vegetable stew.
Most of his ingredients are home grown or locally sourced…
And, if you’re not vegan, or there’s non-vegans in your party, he caters for them beautifully.
If you are near Malia and you are Vegan stop in and see Yannis… tell him Bobbie and Darren sent you then try and guess the fruit in the dessert he may allow you to try if you are lucky…
Oh, and smile, he LOVES smiley people.

Today we drove to the little beach town of Malia and visited Taverna Eva, a lovely little family-owned Greek taverna that we found on the Happy Cow app. The owner, Ioannis, is vegan and brought us a bunch of his homegrown and homemade vegan specialties to sample. What a lovely man and a wonderful place. I wish we had found it earlier in the week!
Read moreThe food was freshly prepared and all delicious. My husband and I shared the oven roasted okra, beet root with garlic, and a cooked green with courgette (zucchini) Ioannis grew in his garden that I am unfamiliar with. Our vegetarian son ordered the vegetarian bifteki and loved it.
Everything was delicious and had us considering visiting again the same day for dinner!

After a couple of days of being "okay" with the vegetarian options we had found in Crete this place simply felt like a rescuing shelter. The owner himself is a vegan and only prepares the vegan dishes.
Read moreWe had spinach pide (vegan), Zucchini fritters (vegetarian because of the cheese and hubby loves cheese), vegan beefteki and vegan moussaka. The moussaka was my personal highlight. It had everything and then some. Though options for vegans are limited, there are some and they are amazing. Go there if you're in the area.
