Food is just ok, atmosphere is uninviting and hospital-like - Edit
Lots of vegan junkfood options, but the two loaded fries dishes we tried were just ok. The place itself isn't very cozy or inviting either.
Read moreI got the special; the cheese with onion loaded fries (but without the onion). While I recognize that I removed most of the flavor myself by omitting onions, the cheese sauce wasn't very flavorful anyway. Though I can't judge them too harshly on this, because I made the choice to order an incomplete version of the dish.
My fiance got the basil loaded fries with pesto. He normally goes crazy for both loaded fries in general and pesto sauce. Though he said that this dish was just alright. Not as tasty as he expected. A bit bland. Which is a shame because the concept sounded amazing.
I think our biggest disappointment was the overall atmosphere of this place. It has a very uninviting, sterile vibe. Almost hospital-like. It didn't feel very relaxing to eat here. Maybe the outdoor terrace would've been a better place to sit. (Though it was too cold at that time).
I don't think I'd come here again. But it's an ok place to grab a quick bite before heading somewhere.

This place makes me feel like going to an old school snackbar, except that it’s all vegan! It’s affordable, you have the fridge with snacks and the food is great. We had some burgers, loaded fries and snacks. None of them disappointed. I loved the chicken burger and cheese and onion fries. Snacks were also amazing, great place to stop by when in Antwerp.

----- We were here on a Sunday around 8pm.
Order at counter, and then a beeper lets you know when you can pick up your food at the counter.
Could order immediately, and didn't have to wait long for food.
We had
- loaded fries with basil
- small fries with veganaise
- selection of 5 different balls
- mushroom wings
And two fritz softdrinks. All this totalled 31,10€.
Nice fastfood. Fries were good, crispy and not too greasy (several with black/bruised pieces though). Loved the mushrooms!! Really crispy and nice sauce. Loaded fries were a pleasant surprise, with basil, pesto, vegan parmesan, veganaise and sundried tomatoes.
The balls were OK, although not really distinct flavours.
Would love to see some more variety in their snacks. E.g. add some sausages on the menu?
Friendly people.
Entrance is with a tiny step. Restaurant on ground floor. Large outdoor seating. Toilet at the back, clean, with paper towels. No accessible toilet.
Seating places are mix of high bar stools and some low stools, with some space to place your food against the wall.
Interior with a minimalistic 60's - 70's vibe (I wish the music would also correspond that area, and not the hiphop/beat(?) music 😀 - showing my age, I know 😉)
All in all: Good for a fastfood meal!
Gave them a Happy Cow sticker, hope they put it up!

The falafel waffle was quite good with the tahini drizzle and pomegranate and green onion, definitely recommend that.
Read moreFries were honestly kinda dry and disappointing, and they’re unsalted and the salt doesn’t really adhere to them. The mango curry dipping sauce was great though.
Mushroom wings were a miss for me. The sauce wasn’t my favorite, and they were 90% batter and hardly any mushroom. You don’t get any sort of mushroom chew or texture, just crisp batter that you bite right through.
Staff were very pleasant, outdoor seating is great since the location is a charming little square and playground.

Truly fatty fast food, exactly what we came for!! Sweet staff and the food came quickly, we were pretty early so maybe that's why. Definitely recommend if you're in the area!

We had a great tahini loaded fries wich come with perfect sweet potato fries. No salad, but very tasty combo with white cheese. The mushroom wings where very salty where the abundant bbq sauce overpowered any mushroom taste..

Loved the square at night with the lights and children playing on the street. Had one of our best meals in Antwerpen - the fish hamburger is a must try. Don't have any pics as we just ate everything faster lol. But I do have a pic of the drink - very good one, didn't try it before!

Had loaded fries (peanut), cauli wings and mixed bitterballs. Everything was tasty! Peanut on fries is weirdly nice and the bitterball mix is perfect for having a small taste of a bunch of things. The iced tea was perfect (fresh mint and lemon slice) and the staff were really friendly too.

I visit Tastebuds almost every week as I live nearby. My favorites: Peanut Fries, Smash Burger, Cauli Wings. Other recommendations: Nofish Burger, Shroom Croket, Mango-Curry sauce.

next level Belgian fries - Edit
If you love fries & spoiling your tastebuds with culinary discoveries, this one is a must-try. We went for the loaded fries with basil veganaise, pesto, vegan Parmesan & sun-dried tomatoes. I would've never thought of this combination but found it really interesting. We also took the smash burger with vegan cheddar, pickle, ketchup & mustard, which was really flavourful as well. The falafel waffle topped with hummus, pomegranate & parsley and the mix with 5 different varieties of bitterballs were also nice. We ended up going for an extra round with loaded sweet potato fries, tahina veganaise, hummus, muhamarra, vegan feta & parsley, which ended up being my favourite simply because it made such an interesting combination and the sweet potato fries were perfectly crunchy. 👌 Already looking forward to trying out some of the other options as well in the future.
