Serves meat, vegan options available. Indian food at a truckstop. Ask for no dairy in the vegetarian items. Rice is made without butter. Relocated from 399 Highway 28 W. Open Mon-Sun 9:00am-10:00pm.
The server we had (the only one in the place) did not understand the concept of vegan. I was looking at the vegetarian section and asked him to recommend something that didn't have any dairy.
He immediately pointed to one of the cheese dishes. I said, "No cheese and no milk products." He then pointed to something that said cream sauce. I asked if it had milk and he said yes.
I said No Cheese, No Milk, No Butter. He looked at me very confused. I said nothing that come out of a cow. His face brightened up and he asked "What about chicken?" I wish I was joking.
Sigh. I found something that looked ok (he assured me there was no milk or butter) and ordered.
The flavor was good BUT be aware about how spicy the food is. My husband asked for 0 spice and I said only a tiny bit of spice. My husband started sweating almost immediately, mine was so hot that I couldn't even finish it.
There aren't a lot of options along this stretch of highway so just be prepared.
We confirmed in Hindi their vegetarian fare is prepared and cooked completely separate from meat dishes. The food was delectable and affordable. A can’t-miss when you’re hungry and between Bama and Mississippi.
Taste of India gives the most consistently satisfying experience every single time we visit. The food is fantastic and it's served fresh and quickly, the kitchen staff is very skilled. The gentleman in the front of the house is very friendly and attentive to our needs. It is a wonderful place to have a traditional Indian meal and has greatly expanded the dining options for the Livingston Area.
