Tart is on a mission to shift the mindsets about vegan food and save animals at the end of the day. Pippa and her team are putting enormous energy and enthusiasm in not only making delicious food but doing it in a way that's most inclusive and environment friendly. Pippa is also always supportive of community actions aiming at a good cause.

Stopped by on our way out of Auckland, heading to Christchurch and boy are we so glad we did. Coming all the way from U.S., this is hands down some of the best vegan baked goods we have had. The owner was the cherry on top! Delighted to talk to a couple of random backpackers from Texas, and offer additional goodies "just cause" goes beyond words. Wish I could visit this little place daily. Anyone who lives in this city consider yourselves lucky.

Everything is vegan! Staff super friendly & Philippa is one of the most genuine people you could meet. She organised a wonderful selection of platters for a funeral wake for us. They were devoured & everyone raved about the food.

Unfortunately I was left feeling disappointed after excitedly visiting Tart Bakery on our way out of Auckland. I got a cronut and a cream bun. The coconut cream was so intensely coconutty that it almost had a liquor taste to it. Not pleasant and I wasn't able to finish it. I've had vegan creams so well done, so creamy and fluffy that they are scarily similar to regular cream. These were runny and so overpowering.

Go early! They run out of food and by 3 o'clock you're looking at a small handful of items. The donuts are amazing! I am pleased I am not a local or I'd get fat eating the donuts alone!

Amazing Vegan Bakery - Edit
Divine baked goods. There's so much of variety from danishes, doughnuts and cronuts to pies, rolls and slices - they have it all. There are sweet and savoury options, so you'll be sure to find something that you like. I've tried pretty much every vegan food that they've sold here, and have never been disappointed!
Read moreI've also used Tart for work functions, and non-vegans have only had great things to say about the food. Many can't believe that the food is vegan. Phillipa is absolutely brilliant and kind; she is able to tailor the foods to your budget and the event, so give her a call or meet her at the bakery to ask about catering. She can provide foods that are typically not sold in the bakery, so don't assume that she can't make you something if you've a specific request.
This is a real gem, so definitely check it out if you haven't already!

We had the steak and cheese,mince and cheese, roast vegie and spinach and cheese pies. All so delicious! Plus had a cronut as well. So good!

Great bakery in Grey Lynn - Edit
We came here several times during our short stay in Auckland, so we had a chance to sample lots of different pies and pastries. Everything we had was really delicious. I especially liked the mushroom pie and the pizza, but I don’t think you can go wrong here. Definitely give Tart a try.

Great vegan bakery! We tried the steak and cheese pie, the mushroom cashew pie and the chicken curry pie (in order of preference). My mum loved the cronut and I wolfed down the delicious lemon chicken roll. The coffee was flavoursome, creamy and good (choose from almond, oat, coconut, soy or rice milk) and there is a good selection of cold drinks including kombucha. Limited outdoor seating

We weren’t disappointed. We were treated to a snail danish, cream donut and cinnamon donut. As a bonus a coffee slice which was amazing!
Service was outstanding.
No wonder they won the best Bakery in New Zealand award for 2017.

I walked in with my mum who isn't vegan and she thought we'd found the wrong place because there was such a large variety. Seriously the best pies and cakes I've ever had in my life. It's also so cheap for the amazing food you're getting. Lunch for the both of us was under $15

Tart is great, so happy a friend and i discovered it at the Vegan Food Fair! At the fair we had tried one of their pastries which was delicious! The second time I tried their food i took my non-vegan friends with me and even they really enjoyed their food! Each of us got a savoury ('mince & cheese', mushroom & cashew, Thai 'chicken' curry and a vegan sausage roll) which were amazing my vegan friend said she could barely tell that the mince and cheese wasn't real and had to double check it was vegan hahah. We also got donuts and coffees which were also superb! The staff are absolutely amazing and we had a great chat with them, overall just a super cool bakery! Would 100% recommend this place to both vegans and non-vegans!

Tart bakery is simply amazing, the staff are always fabulous and the food is delicious and all vegan, even their hot drinks only use vegan milks now. Highly recommend the cream doughnuts, they will convince any omnivore than vegan food can be delicious without using animals. Also the price is so reasonable, we got 2 coffees and about 6 bakery items for approx $30.

The team at Tart Bakery are an awesome bunch of people. Philippa and her team of vegan masterminds recently catered our vegan wedding. The menu she came up with blew our guests away (the non vegans were amazed). The wedding carrot cake was decorated with dried pineapple flowers with edible glitter, it was stunning. I can honestly say their vegan goods are far superior to any other bakery I have ever been to (vegan or otherwise). You need to check them out.
