Lovely cafè with good options - Edit
Really nice looking modern cafè. Was not expecting to find matcha in Balmoral! It was really nice and they had different plant milks. Slightly powdery but nice. I also tried the chocolate and sesame cookie and that was good as well. Great friendly staff!

Best Café near Balmoral Castle - Edit
This place is located near Balmoral Castle. It offers great coffee, vegan pastries and breakfast. We had the beans on toast with vegan feta. We enjoyed it very much and would recommend to visit this Café when you are nearby.

Quiet cafe with several vegan options - Edit
You can walk to this spot from the Balmoral parking lot but you can also park in the small lot at the café or al9ng the road. Several vegan options, both sweet and savory. The chocolate chip cookies with sesame were great as was the cinnamon roll!

Lovely little cafe - Edit
Cool little place and an interesting building (shared with architect firm). There was a surprising number of vegan options for a small menu: pasta, salad, pie, soup & sweets.

Super Vegan options cafe in the Cairngorms 💚 - Edit
Wow! Head this way if you are vegan and love good food with friendly people & a cosy atmosphere. Not a huge choice but plenty to keep you happy. Great choice of teas including matcha latte & plant mylks.
Read moreInside & outside seating with blankets if it’s a bit chilly. Going to revisit on our tour back down from the top of Scotland, it’s that good. Better than some all vegan hotels I could mention!!
Pros: Great tasting food, cakes and drinks , Super friendly staff, Cosy atmosphere
Cons: Wanting to try all the vegan cakes & bakes

Fabulous find near Balmoral - Edit
Thanks Happy Cow for helping us find this place. Beautifully designed cafe attached to architect’s office, easy to find on main road near Balmoral and 10 mins outside of Braemar. Half the menu including cakes are vegan. Plenty of parking, dogs very welcome. I had a salad, plus delicious sourdough bread, and nutty chocolate slice. Delicious! Will definitely return on next tour of Scotland.

Delicious baked goods! - Edit
I was so excited to discover this place just an hours drive from home! The staff were super friendly and I had a great coffee and a coconut hot chocolate as well as a vegan sourdough grilled cheese and, the highlight for me, an outstanding cinnamon roll. It isn’t usual to find good vegan baked goods in such a rural spot! The cafe reminds me of somewhere I’d have found back in Brighton so I think I’ll be becoming a regular!

Excellent little cafe - Edit
Thanks to the guide at Balmoral Castle for recommending Tarmachan, this cafe deserves to be better known. The ambience is lovely with plenty of our door seating, a small wild area and swallows nesting over the door. There are lots of vegan options, in fact it feels more like a vegan cafe with some meat options than the other way round. The pea and fennel pie and salads were excellent. Good to see most of the soft drinks in glass and aluminium containers too. Worth a visit if you are in the Balmoral/Braemar area.

Trendy cafe, with good coffee and great lunches - Edit
A changeable lunch menu with a few options everyday including items such as Dahl and kimchi and soups and salads, at least one of them vegan friendly. Coconut and oat milk available for coffee substitute. Ask about the baked goods at the counter, as they change daily. Usually they will be veg friendly but not always vegan friendly!

Great food, fantastic setting - Edit
This place is great and so unexpected in this part of the world! As other people have said, it does serve meat, but the majority is vegan or at least has a vegan option. The vegan grilled cheese was delicious but the highlight was the sourdough cinnamon roll!
