Cute garden restaurnt

This was our first meal in Pokhara and it was really nice. The food was tasty and the staff was kind and helpful. We had pad thai and daal bhat - both were delicious!

Pros: Vegan options, Friendly staff

Cute and tasty

Cheap and tasty. Unfortunately I was the only customer and business has been slow. It's tucked away down an alley so can be hard to spot. Friendly and fast service. I recommend.

Pros: Tasty and cheap, Garden space off the main road

Tucked away in a cute garden

Simple menu with great tasting food. The veg fried rice with added peanuts was the best fried rice we've had so far in Nepal! Good portions too. The chocolate momos are a delightful twist on the original recipe!

Mention vegan and they'll know what you can eat

Helpful owner/cook that understands vegan food. Enjoyed the curries and vegetable dish. I'll go back to try a few more dishes.

Pros: Vegan options, Freshly made food, Owner operated

Cons: Could have a mark for what is vegan

Friendly and understands vegan needs

The owner is super friendly and immediately asked if I was vegan when I asked if there were eggs in the pad thai. Food was cooked fresh and the portion was generous. Quite delicious and the place is super cute! Just be warned that the pad thai is actually fried vegetable noodles with peanuts.

Pros: Lots of vegan options, owner understands veganism, Quiet and cute space, Large portions, inexpensive

Cons: Pad thai on the menu is not actually pad thai

Disappointing

My husband and I ordered a Dahl Baht each, but for some reason we were given only one plate to share.

The Dahl itself was nice but one bowl between two of us wasn’t very much, and everything had a lot of salt added.

We also had to wait a long time for the food.

Be warned - if you don’t finish everything on your plate the cook will ask you why!

Worst experience ever, the guy was drunk

I had the worst experience I ever had in a restaurant. I went there very excited because the reviews I saw. I asked for no spicy in my noodles and I found something very very spicy that made me cry. I was the only guest and the guy was taking care of the children in the restaurant, he made an apple juice that didn't look very nice, he split half in the way to my table, later he split the other half on my table and my scarf, he said he was sorry but I couldn't believe it. I went to the bathroom to clean it but the smell there was unbearable. He tried to put my glass and another one on a little table and he threw both on the ground, he left them there. I waited almost an hour for my momos, while the children was bothering me throwing a balloon into my noodles and myself. The guy was telling me 'please, I'm sorry' all the time but he was playing with the kid and the momos never came. I realized he was very drunk, he smelled like beer very strongly, and started to tell me that I have a very beautiful eyes. I felt very humiliate and uncomfortable, I paid my noodles and I went away.

Pros: Nothing

Cons: The owner was drunk, He threw the juice on my clothes, I waited an hour and my main dish never came

Unique dishes

Down a side alley of Lakeside, expect a cosy little restaurant run by a friendly Tara. Service is a little slow but the food is good. I ordered the Simi Nariwal which seems to be a unique creation of hers. Green beans, onion and hard slices of coconut are covered with her special mixture of spices. It is a simple mixture of flavours, but is nevertheless tasty. The juices are seasonal and extremely fresh, pulpy, and delicious.

Pros: Fresh food, Friendly staff

Cons: Service can be a little slow

Cozy local restaurant with vegan options

Tara prepares all the food fresh, with local ingredients. The owner is really sweet, and the restaurant is located back from the busy road. The food was great- but allow a 30-40 minute wait (it's worth the wait).

I don’t understand the praise.

I wish it would have been better. With the positive reviews i saw i was expecting much better. I tried the meal with the green beans but wasn’t impressed by it at all. I was alone in the restaurant and it took a while. The electricity went on and off regularly. The neighbors weren’t affected by it.Compare to others options in Pokhara, it’s below average.

Cons: Average food, Slow service

You have to go there!

Amazing food! So good that I ate 2 dishes in a row! I had the simi Nariwal and the Tara's pad Thai. Great mix of flavour and a great attention to seasoning. Definitely recommend it. The place is mentionned in this french article about Nepal: https://www.laventurevegetale.fr/le-nepal/

Simple and sweet

Simple but sweet place. The dishes are by no means authentic (pad thai) but it's a nice twist. Can be a long waiting time, so just keep that in mind. I wanted to love the choc momos but they were more of a savoury dish with aniseeds in them I believe.

I went there almost everyday

It's very simple but Tara is such a lovely soul and she will accommodate if you're vegan!! I loved the momos here, I really recommend it! Also she makes beautiful vegan chocolate momos, you just have to tell her!!
I felt like home at Tara's always playing with her baby or her puppy! If you're staying in Pokhara it's really worth a visit!!

Pros: Very homy, Friendly, Good food

Cons: A bit long sometimes

Vegan momos

This backyard café can optimize most of the menu for vegan needs and the owners are very friendly here. The momos are good but not spectacular, if you are coming here for vegan momos there are many other places in Lakeside where they are amazing.

OK but nothing special

We'd seen many good reviews but the place was mediocre. Fried green beans with coconut was pretty bland compared to the spiciness we were promised. Table cloths look like they've not been cleaned for months.

homey, peaceful and creative

Tara is familiar with veganism, and will point to the few dishes that are vegan (I'm not sure about the noodles).
Tasty food for not too high of a price, in a relaxing small place.

worth many visits to try all

Small restaurant up a side passage with a simple look with chairs inside and out. Outside is better for a breeze on a hot day. The menu is particularly interesting with nepalese dishes not seen elsewhere. The pad thai is distinctive from that served in Thai restaurants no been sprouts and more peanuts. But delicious nevertheless. The green beens and coconut is excellent too.

Pros: good fresh food excellent value

Cons: none

Wouldn't recommend the pad Thai

As someone who lives in Thailand I know what a pad Thai should be, and this wasn't it. They used wheat noodles instead of rice noodles, there was no bean sprouts, no tamarind sauce, the whole dish was way too salty and it was covered with an entire bag of raw peanuts. I couldn't finish it (and I always finish my food). Maybe other dishes were better, but I wasn't prepared to find out.

Cons: Pad Thai is not pad Thai.

let's be honest

I really don't understand why vegans give 5 stars to veg places only because they are veg places (actually not even vegan places). I read all the nice reviews and decided to try the chocolate momos. Well, they were NOT good, sorry. The dough was dry, and the filling nothing special. The place is NOT nice, and in Pokhara you can find many other amazing restaurants offering great vegan offers. Sorry, but let's be honest, this place is not worth a visit.

Amazing host, delicious vegan options.

Really good food, delicious vegan options and Tara is extremely accommodating. The prices are great too. The food may take a little time to come as she's cooking everything from scratch but it's totally worth the wait. Arrive early as there are only a few tables.

Pros: Lovely Host, Great Price, Unique food

Cons: Not many seats, No wifi

What a hidden gem!

Tara is a gorgeous host who runs her small eatery with compassion and pride. She has an amazingly tasty selection of vegan options and we have been back every day since we discovered it. You can taste the love in the food.
Everything is well seasoned, well spiced and is made fresh to order. Try the coconut green beans - it's like nothing I've had before and sooooo good! Cheap, fresh and unpretentious food served by a lovely host.
