Roadside establishment serving vegan dishes at approx. 50B per plate. Heading to Patong on 4029, it's just after the 4020/4029 intersection on your left (.31 km). Look for jay (veg) banners. Reported closed July 2023.

ex daily place - still super - Edit
When I lived in Kathu last year this was my daily lunch place. The people are friendly enough and the food is tasty and consistent. For 50 baht you can fill your plate self service which is quite nice if you're hungry. The location is great if you're coming or going from Patong. I don't think they speak much English as I speak with them in Thai but its pretty simple and straight forward situation. A typical tasty husband/wife Thai Jay restaurant with large servings. A coffee/tea drink place in front. Relaxing with nice Chinese religious music sometimes. Update - they've moved down the road just after the petrol station in the direction of Phuket town. If you're coming from Phuket town turn left at the intersection and they're on the the left just after the petrol station.

As this is only five minutes from my house I come here quite often. Cheap and tasty.

Amazing food and great price - Edit
My wife and I are both vegan and tried this place a go on our way to Tiger Kingdom (2 minute walk away). So much tofu options!! They even had what tasted like the Tofurky Roast! Spicy and no spicy options available. Be sure to ask in Thai (no English) or google translate which dishes are spicy. I eat about 4,000-6,000 calories a day depending on bulking or cutting season and I got full on 2 plates (฿50 a plate). Coming back everyday!
Read morePros: Lots of tofu and veggies, Great price for amount of food you can fit on pla, Close to tiger kingdom
Cons: No AC, No English (just use translate. Is okay)

Best buffet in Phuket - Edit
Normally I don't like buffet because food doesn't look delicious. But in this restaurant, buffet looks good and food is tasty. Very nice religion music and friendly owners. Pretty good and clean hall with tables and electric fans. No air-con, good food, free drinking water, cheap price - 1 choice from buffet is 20 bath.

One of the best of the open-air eateries - Edit
Taon Sin is surprisingly good. While it looks much like countless other casual, open-air eateries, the quality here is a step up. The buffet case includes plenty of whole green veggies, as well as a few above-average faux meat selections. Flavors and textures were good, and the veggies weren't overcooked. For those with a sweet tooth, there's also a selection of packaged Chinese-style dessert pastries and a few crunchy snacks.
Read moreThe proprietors are kind and gentle, and the whole experience was quite pleasant.
It's only about 10 minutes east of Patong by scooter.
Enjoy!
