Loved it! Best Indian in Capitol Hill

Located in 15th Street, a few blocks away from the bustle of Broadway is this gem.

Vegan options are specified. We ordered the Aloo Bhindi, Chana Masala, and Samosas. all amazing!!!

Spice level - it's on a scale of 5. We both got 3, which felt slightly spicy and tolerable!

Excellent

Beautiful interior and so friendly staff. There are lots of vegan options. The alo Gobhi and lacha paratha was delicious.

Decent neighborhood spot

Fast, flavorful neighborhood restaurant occupying the former Teapot restaurant space. Well labeled menu though I do see the error the other review mentioned, and more than enough vegan options for a repeat visit and the spices were plenty bold.

I ordered the mango curry. The flavors were great and there was nothing particularly misleading about the menu but I was a little surprised to find it was only a sauce with the chosen protein. I would not order this without adding veggies as well…it doesn’t really amount to much of a dish as is.

A request I put in my order that the vegan curry be labeled was honored.

Interesting to note that have a whole Jain section of the menu!

Tasty aloo bhindi

Warning that they mark vegan options on their menu, but it’s not always accurate. They say their Kofta is vegan but it lists cheese in the ingredients. 🤷 We decided to try a couple things here anyway. I wanted to get chili paneer but with tofu since they had tofu on the menu, but they said they couldn’t substitute the paneer for tofu. ☹️ So we got the aloo bhindi (potato and okra) and Chana masala (chickpea tomato curry). The aloo bhindi was great! Very flavorful and the okra had great texture. I would order this again. But the Chana masala was pretty bland. It had plenty of spice (ordered 5 star spicy) but otherwise not much flavor. Overall not a great vegan experience, but it’s close to home, so we might come back here in the future when in the mood for Indian.

Pros: At least they tried to mark vegan options, Aloo bhindi was delicious

Cons: Can’t really trust what the menu says, Not very accommodating
