I had a pita and ate at the window seating. Perfect for a quick, delicious, and satisfying bite - and great people watching.

Perfect spot to hit up in the UES after a trip to The Met. The sabich was interesting. While it’s quick and casual, they don’t skimp on quality.

Never had a sabich like this before - Edit
Tamam, is a small, vegan Middle Eastern restaurant on the UES cooking up some of the best falafel sandwiches in the city. Not to be overshadowed, the sabich is not to be skipped on, with its large pieces of deep-fried eggplant sandwiched in a pita. Never seen or tasted one like this before. Tamam uses fresh, organic ingredients including on the Israeli salad, pickles, and tahini the pitas are stuffed with. Must try the cauliflower next time. You can opt for these toppings on a platter or salad bowl as an alternative to the pita.
Read moreThe place is super casual and the service is friendly and efficient. There are four counter seats inside and some outdoor seating, perfect for people-watching. Or better yet, take it to the park, just three blocks away for a wonderful mid-day meal.

Delicious fast food - Edit
We went for a late-ish lunch and it was quite quiet, which is lucky as there are only a few seats inside and maybe four tables outside. Service was fast, and the food was delicious. We tried some falafel, some cauliflower (both excellently seasoned and beautifully cooked), and a sabich in pita, which was flavoursome if a bit messy to eat. Portions were quite hearty and everything was great. It's close to the Met and Central Park, so it's a good option for tourists in the area.

Considering it’s New York, this was one of the most affordable and delicious lunches I could find. Flavourful falafel and fresh veggies.

Almost a 5-star place with unique food - Edit
$19.06 for sabich platter with pita and a serving of pita chips. This place had potential to have 5 stars because, even though it was a little too oily, the food was balanced: grains, vegetables, proteins, different colors, etc. Also, the food was relatively unique: no comfort food, no burgers, no fries; just falafel, hummus, pita, etc. The amount of plastic and paper given ruined it for me, though. No reusable dishes, terrible plastic forks, no “take out or dine in?” question. All of this is the case, even though the amazing Le Botaniste is just a few blocks away. Maybe the few saved dollars are worth for someone, though, or maybe the Israeli cuisine makes it worth it.
Read morePros: Original food, Tasty, Affordable
Cons: Little too oily, No bathroom or wifi, Tons of disposable stuff

Deliciously Diverse Options - Edit
A delicious, diverse set of all-vegan options offers more than just falafel and hummus in a sandwich or on a platter. We tried the falafel, eggplant, and cauliflower "shawarma" sandwiches and found them delicious. The side of hummus and crunchy pita chips was icing on a rich, filling cake. Three of us with these extras and a tip ate for less than $60 and came away well satisfied.

Super tasty falafel by central park - Edit
I could tell this place would be good by how popular it was, I got a falafel pita sandwich to go, but the vibes inside were super cool so I would be happy to eat inside too. Amazing selection of fresh veggies, creamy hummus and crisp, flavoursome falafel. You can’t beat it. A must try if you are near central park.

Best. Pita. Falafel. - Edit
As many others have said Tamam has theeeee best falafel sandwiches I’ve ever had. The pita is firm enough to hold the mounds of veggies and sauces but also soft enough to delight your taste buds. I get the sandwich with everything on it and light on the spicy sauce. For about $12 a sandwich it’s a pretty good size and keeps me satisfied.
