Beware! Very misleading - Edit

Huge regret not reading the reviews on Happy Cow before entering this place. Very disinterested service. Very misleading menu if you are vegan or vegetarian. This place is not vegan or vegetarian although it does offer a minimal selection of vegan and vege items. Definitely targeting tourists wanting vegan/vegetarian food. Buyer beware!

Pros: None

Cons: Misleading name and menu, service was poor

Beware - not vegan - Edit

They need to change the misleading name of the restaurant. Some foods, such as their pancakes, are only vegetarian, not vegan.
This is not expressed in the 'vegan' menu. Dissapointing way of drawing in customers.

Pros: none

Cons: not vegan despite misleading name

no better options than anywhere else in tam coc - Edit

If you're after just the standard fare of sautéed vegetables and rice for a slightly inflated price and rude service, then this place might suit your needs. I'm not sure why this place markets itself as vegan, it has a similar menu to the many other places along the main tam coc strip. The woman who seemed to be in charge seemed indifferent to me being there and I had to seek her out to get a menu, order, and pay. I ended up getting my own drink as she didn't.

Pros: the dull slightly expensive plate of veg I ordered

Cons: poor vegetarian menu, poor service, more expensive than neighbouring restaurants

Bad food and very inattantive staff - Edit

Just a few vegetarian/vegan dishes, don't know why they call it "vegan". The staff was extremly inattentive and the waitress wasn't friendly at all. It took a long time to even order something and they even forgot that we are guests when we were walking around the restaurant while waiting for our order. The breakfast was terrific, nothing fresh, only some cold plain pancakes were edible. We were there twice for giving a second chance - never ever!

Cons: Quite expensive, Inattentive staff, Bad food

My friends and I came here multiple times during our time in Tam coc. Lovely male staff /cook, friendly and chatty. Great simple vegan food, decent portions, delicious burgers.

Weird definition of vegan - double-check - Edit

I added this because I guess it has to be on here, however I wouldn't go here a second time. Because of the restaurant's name, me and my partner tried to understand whether they use cow's milk and asked whether or not a dish was vegan, the waiter got unfriendly.. apparently all dishes can me made without milk or egg, but you need to ask for that e.g. pancakes.
When we payed our bill the waiter came back again and told me in an unfriendly manner that indeed there can be different definitions of vegan, that they think it means not taking a life and by using eggs you wouldn't do that. I didn't want to start a discussion but just said that internationally it's understood differently and that it might be misleading. He said I had now learned a new definition...

Apart from that: we had a burger which looked good but didn't taste of much.. I recommend the shakes though (a bit overpriced but made with soy milk). can't judge the rest of the food.. but honestly, many restaurants in Tam Coc offer veg* food.

Pros: Offers Soy milk, nice sitting in a yard

Cons: Staff thinks eggs are vegan, Some dishes are overpriced , Food is bland

tamcoc.vegan 15 Feb 2017 - Hello Tschiep,
We do apologize for the misunderstanding experiences you had, as our business mission is giving as many options to our valued customers as possible to get our guests’ satisfaction. And as those needs of using cow milk and egg – things to be dedicated we have using them as the very important additional ingredients to our food and beverage. And those always remain as some of your options.
About the price policy of our products we provide is based on some of very important factors as the cost, power, human resource, the service we bring to our guests, there is always something that we couldn't price it, because they are in the air we breathe, the sound we hear, the feeling we’ve got.
Let us say thank you very much for your contributions, and in mean time we wish you a great year ahead with happiness.
