Great Experience - Edit
We went there for late lunch/early dinner, 3p.m. and we were the only guests. The owner (?) understands a few words in english and was friendly.
Read moreWe both had the Chefs Set with dessert and grain coffee (one small size 1900¥, one normal 2500¥)
We didn't know many of the dishes before and some things weren't to our taste to be honest. BUT it was a great experience and for me it was authentic Japanese food.
I would recommend everyone to try it!

Macrobiotic restaurants in the outskirts of Kanazawa - Edit
I love that there is a place with a vegan Japanese style set menu in Kanazawa. Albeit a little out of the way. The flavour of the dishes was partly not my favourite, but some where really good. The atmosphere in the restaurant is very nice and the value for money is good. We had 2 set menus with desserts for 1900¥ per person . The portions are indicated as small but I found them to definiyely be large enough.

Amazing traditional vegan food - Edit
There is a menu in English, it's just the chef's choice and you can add desserts or coffe (or both) I really love it. It worth the bus travel. It was amazing

Vegan Set Meal - Edit
For a city as big and culture-filled as Kanazawa, the vegan options are severely lacking. However, just a little bit out of the central area, Takano is the place to go!
Read moreWe got the Chef's Special and the Chef's Special with three desserts. The food was really delicious, prepared with a lot of care, and the portions were much bigger than I expected!
Do not hesitate to go there!

One of the best vegan places I've been to ever - Edit
Small restaurant, but lots of seating. All vegan. The owner/chef was very nice and there is an English menu. There are a few really awesome sounding options that have been taken off since COVID, due to less travelers. But the owner is clearly very dedicated to providing really clean, natural food that also tastes insanely good. The platters are teishoku style (many small dishes) and it is insanely filling and delicious, especially for the price. I can't overstate how great this place was. The food was probably the best vegan food I've had in Japan.

Vegan Japanese cuisine - Edit
We have really enjoyed dinner in this restaurant. Menus come with a good variety of plates and tastes. The tray includes a very rich miso soup and a chicory-coffee.

Fabulous Feast - Edit
We enjoyed our Chef’s special and sample of 3 desserts. There was a wonderful combination of flavours in the savoury dishes and the desserts included a creamy one (sesame based) which went beautifully with a cake (?ginger) and there was a purple icecream (?grape/plum). Every was enjoyable, staff were friendly and the English menu made it very easy for us to order. We would gladly eat here again.

Hi, sorry you found them closed. I checked with the venue and they confirmed the opening hours are correct. However, they may close earlier if food runs out so maybe that is what happened.

cozy out of the way and delicious - Edit
We are visiting Kanazawa and found this out of the way vegan place a couple of miles from our hotel. The atmosphere is bright and casual and the food was well prepared and delicious. Despite having no language in common, the cook/waiter made us feel right at home. A bilingual menu, mime, and even bit of pictionary sufficed to make one another understood. Well worth the trip off the beaten path.

Not worth it. - Edit
I've had better food. I ate here because I was in the neighbourhood, but it's definitely not something I'll go a long way for.
Read moreI had the multigrain burger, which really isn't a burger as much as a large semi-cooked/baked patty. The taste was fine, but the somewhat uncooked patty was hard to finish, so I left half of it on my plate which then makes my meal at たかの somewhat expensive.
He closed shop after I left at 17:30, so only come for a late lunch or early dinner.
Pros: All vegan, English menu
Cons: No English-speaking staff

so good - Edit
Was disappointed that there are only a couple of vegan options close to where we are staying. But...it really didn't matter because this place was so amazing. The food was delicious and the vibe was very peaceful and relaxed. I wish I could take the place back home with me :)

I - Edit
I've been to Takano's a few times. Take Bus 18 to the "Akasaka" bus stop. It's 230 yen from the Kourinbou bus stop (in front of Daiwa) in downtown Kanazawa. When you get off of the bus, it's about a 5 minute walk to the restaurant. It looks a lot like a house, so take a good look at that Google Map so you know where you're going ahead of time!
Read moreOther than that, their prices are reasonable and they offer a great "Healthy Set" with dessert included for only 1,580 yen! They have other entree options that are in the 800 yen range -- but I recommend the "Healthy Set"!
Pros: good food, family owned, decent prices
Cons: hard to find, not downtown, closes early

Closed on Sunday. Opening hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., last order is 8 p.m. You can order also a vegan "bento" (take away). Definitely worth the trip.
