Great Tofish and Chips

Loved the venue, right next to the Menai Strait and Bangor Pier. Great service and atmosphere. The quality of the food was excellent. The staff were clear about what items on the menu were vegan. Huge portion, too.

Pros: Vegan options, Atmosphere, Service

Cons: No vegan cheese for cheesy chips

Cheap and Cheerful Vegan Chippy Tea!

I did not know what to expect when visiting Tafarn Y Garth as there is not much information online about the newly opened business. Formerly the site of The Tap and Spile pub, the rembranded Tafarn y Garth splits the services it offers into two, but both operate under the same name and are connected via an open plan style dining area.

I did not go in as a patron of the pub side of the business, but I went to the Chippy as I had heard they offer vegan options. This is indeed true, and their vegan option include large or small Vegan Fish and Chips and two Vegan Pies (Vegan Chicken and Mushroom or Vegan Steak). They also have a small desserts section, and their Battered Oreos are, of course, suitable for vegans!

I had the Small Vegan Fish and Chips, a Vegan Steak Pie, Curry Sauce, Mushy Peas, Frickles, Battered Oreos and a couple of cold drinks from their fridge. The portion sizes were good, and the food was simple and enjoyable. It was the Frickles I found to be the nicest of all as the pickles still retained a lovely crunch even after being deep fried.

I'm really pleased this business is catering to vegans, and I hope they manage to attract and keep many vegan customers especially as they offer online ordering!

Pros: Multiple Vegan Options, Great Prices, Nice Staff, Good Location, Vegan Dessert Option

Cons: Poor Social Media Presence, Nowhere to Dispose of Used Materials
