Serves meat, vegan options available. Taco kitchen operating out of a shared kitchen. Offers six different kinds of all vegan tacos, several mushroom options, cauliflower, Impossible meat, and al pastor. Also has some sides. Reported closed July 2023.
Had vegan tacos, all very flavorful. Fast and caring service. Too bad is not fully vegan. Also have no tables, only a couple of chairs, so not comfortable for eating in.
A huge flaw for happy cow is that it wouldn’t let me give one star because they listed this as a vegan place but it is not a vegan place at all. I am truly disturbed by my experience tonight. I was given a meat taco in with my vegan tacos I had ordered. Apparently this was meant to be a gift for waiting so I’ve been told and they didn’t realize that a non-vegan gift would be a punishment (from when I called tonight). I never asked for this and had no idea until I got home and all the tacos were together so I couldn’t eat any of them. I could have easily taken a bite before noticing. When I called I wasn’t even given a refund since the manager wasn’t around and it was really difficult to hear the person on the phone due to the background music. This whole thing is portrayed online as being a totally vegan place but it isn’t. They are just subbing out meat tacos with vegetables in a non vegan kitchen and they aren’t being transparent about that upfront. The fact that this was even able to happen is so upsetting. In my opinion, non-vegan food is pretty much the worst case scenario.
Edit: They have apologized the next day after I reached out through their contact form. They issued a refund and offered to also make me new tacos for free (which I am too concerned to take them up on personally). I think this was a good response to a terrible mistake that it shouldn’t have been possible to make. My new rating would be two stars anyway now that they have refunded me and apologized so it is okay that happy cow wouldn’t let me rate them lower.
This is a new place operating out of the DC Underground Food Court. The tacos were relatively cheap and absolutely delicious. We tried the cauliflower taco, the Al pastor taco, and the red and green chili mushroom tacos. Delicious!
