Not up to expectations

Their menu seemed to have some decent vegan options so we eagerly went for lunch yesterday. Unfortunately they did a very poor job all round. First, they got my order wrong. Then the chips that came with the guac were oily and not crisp. All the main food items were too salty and also too oily. The only redeeming feature was the squash filling which was quite good. Not sure I would give Taco Bus a second try.

Pros: Squash filling was good, Prices okay, Outdoor seating

Cons: Too oily, Too salty, Incompetent staff (probably not paid enough)

Very very disappointed!!!

Food were too salty and oily. The flavor for the guacamole was weird, like if they added extra something into it. The manager that took my order screwed up everything. I asked for 2 soft corn tortilla and squash filling, she made the order with a pile of chips. She didn’t speak English well therefore she didn’t communicate with me well at all. The girl they hired didn’t know what to do when I asked for vegan substitutes. They refused to give me cups for water/ice.

Great variety

This place has a great variety of vegan options. Certainly not oil and salt free but very tasty. The seitan steak was delicious but way too salty for my liking. My husband had no problem. The vegan steak quesadillas were outstanding. Would go again.

Good Vegan options

Tons of vegan GF options on their menu. Plantfare vegan meat, vegan steak strips, butternut squash all available as proteins for burritos, tacos and bowls. For the non gluten-free people they also have whole grains tortillas.

Amazing flavor!

I would give 5 stars if it let me. I got the vegan steak with vegan cheese, some of the best vegan food I have had. Definitely going back.

Pros: Tons of vegan options

Not too impressed

I first visited this location at St Pete Beach about 6 months ago and thought it was great! The service was friendly and it was a great experience. HOWEVER, I have been back about 3 times and not had a great experience. One time it had to do with their advertised happy hour, but that's not a vegan issue. I went yesterday and found the service to be terrible, honestly.
I wanted the quesadilla with vegan steak and vegan cheese. They were out of vegan steak and the girl pointed to the other menu options for vegan protein. The one I was interested in only indicated plant protein, but didn't indicate soy or whatever and when I asked what kind of protein it was, she practically sneered and said "I don't know!", like I was an idiot for questioning the ingredients on their menu.
I ended up getting the portabello protein option, but if I hadn't been with a friend, I think I would have walked out.
Bottom line: The food is usually great, but you have to be willing to take a chance on the service.

Pros: Quick service, Good Food, No wait

Cons: Customer service poor, Lack of menu knowledge

Good vegan options near the beach

Friendly staff and love that vegan options are clearly marked. I ordered two soft tacos (one with tofu and one with portobello mushrooms while hubby ordered two soft tacos with vegan steak. Unfortunately, they were out of vegan steak so hubby got the tofu instead. Both tofu and portobello tacos were delicious and flavorful. Adding cabbage, pico de gallo, and guacamole definitely make the tasty food even better. I’ll absolutely visit here again next time I’m in the area!

Pros: Three vegan protein options available , Friendly staff, Reasonable prices

Cons: None

meat in my vegan burrito

Clearly Taco Bus DOES NOT use separate grills for meat and meatless cooking and food preparation. I found a trace piece of steak in my portobello ranchero burrito preñado with vegan cheese. Why did I have to pay $2 extra for the Daiya vegan cheese option if they served me a meat contaminated burrito?

I won't be dining at Taco Bus again.

What a shame these slackers can't get their act together to serve honest food to well meaning g people. As a vegan I don't want to support the slaughter of animals, certainly don't want to eat them! Come on guys, sort it out. ?

Good when they get it right

Taco Bus is notorious for getting Vegan orders wrong, and by that I mean carelessness. They are not paying attention to detail and put animal cheese instead of vegan cheese, and other mistakes that render the food inedible for vegans. I just stopped going.

Good Variety, but Meat in My Taco...

I don't want to discredit Taco Bus, because they do a great job of offering a variety of vegan and vegetarian options, so you don't feel like a weirdo when going out with meat-eating friends. I like that a lot about Taco Bus. I have been to the one in Lakeland before. Unfortunately, when I went to this one, I ordered butternut squash (I liked it!) and had a piece of pork in my taco....not cool. I didn't complain, because of the long line; but I do hope that they are more careful about this when they are less busy. My girlfriend got the vegan steak, and hers didn't have any trace meat. Maybe mine was a one-time thing? Overall, I still like Taco Bus and will go back again, just being extra careful.

Pros: Variety of Vegan Options, Really Tasty!, All dips/sides are vegan

Cons: Serving Meat, Potential meat in food- Be careful!!

No longer vegetarian

I used to love this place but it has really gone down hill in recent months, ever since the last menu change. Service has always been hit or miss, which is fine for a place like this, but the food quality is not nearly as good as it once was and they seem to have changed their stance on trying to be vegan/vegetarian friendly. They've removed tempeh from the menu, they rarely have tofu in stock and worst of all they've stopped cleaning their cooking surfaces before cooking their "vegetarian" filings, so your veggie burrito is actually full of animal grease. The menu used to state that they would clean the grills but that has been removed as well. I found a chunk of hamburger in my mushroom burrito last time I went there. I used to come here 2-3 times a week, but never again. There are much better options now, especially for vegans.

Veg-Friendly, Good Food

I love Taco Bus! I like the vegan burrito with tempeh and the Butternut Squash Centro but my favorite item to order is the Burrito Prenado with Butternut Squash! YUM! Their portions are large and I usually get two meals out of my order - can't beat that!

Pros: Taste, Portion, Price

Cons: None!

I love Taco Bus

I love Taco Bus! Order the vegan burrito with tempeh or without. I spilt the meal with my boyfriend. The drinks are very sugary so I recommend mixing them with water or ice tea. Again, delicious food, great portions, right price.

Pros: portion size , price , taste
