Great Place! - Edit

We came around 2pm on a weekday. The line was short and the place was about half full. The girls working the front both spoke English very well and were very helpful. We both ordered the schnitzel sandwich, me with the cole slaw and my wife with the fries. Everything was delicious! The decor was pretty cool, it reminded me of a tiled subway station and it was a bit retro. We got espresso coffee and a tiramisu at the end, also very delish. I would recommend checking this place out if you're in the area! Fast and fantastic service!

Pros: Great food!, Great service!, Gluten free choices!

Favourite - Edit

Swing Kitchen is a must on every visitor's list when in Vienna, imo. I love it, non-vegan friends love it - the burgers are honestly the best ones I have ever had :) Wraps and Salads are fantastic too. So basically everything on the menu. Lovely simple but stylish interior too.

Pros: food, people, interior

great icecream! - Edit

Had a tasty wrap with schnitzel, the basil lemon sauce was really good. Nice salad on the side. I was amazed with the "soft eis". There is the option to have it dipped in chocolate sauce. Soft ice is something that I have missed since becoming vegan so I was pleasantly surprised that they offer it here. Super good.

Hell yeah! - Edit

Swing Kitchen has all the makings of a good eatery: It's welcoming, clean, hip, affordable and provides food of good quality. The atmosphere is good and the staff are lovely, too.
And probably the best thing about Soul Kitchen are the opening times, since they don't close between afternoon and evening as many other places do.
However, one time I was feeling really sick after eating one tiramisu there, which tasted weird. And the (mainly prepared/pre-packaged) salads aren't so good anymore in the evenings.
Allover a convincing concept and a place you really looking forward going to.
Be aware that their ice cream portion is really huge.

Pros: opening hours!, good value, amazing staff and venue

Cons: salads bad in the evenings, refrigeration of sweets could be better

Burgers - Edit

Fast food for vegetarians and vegans. Because we also need junk food.
Fast and friendly service. The burger was good but not spectacular and the fries came half cold whicg is a shame for fries...
Not a bad experience but not sure I would go again.

Pros: Friendly Staff, Quick

Great place! - Edit

Really enjoyed this place. I had vegan schnitzel & fries, while my husband had the Vienna burger & coleslaw. Food was plentiful & very fresh. It was served quickly & with a smile. The coffee and fresh juice were great too!

Very convenient location close to MariahilferStrasse & the Museums Quarter. I would definitely recommend this place to others.

Pros: great food, , Friendly Service , Fresh ingredients

Cons: A little on the expensive side

I am Jeovegan witness - Edit

and this fast-food is Jeovegan! perfect! Got the vegan schnitzel with cole slaw salad and onion rings and my husband the chilli burguer. both of us drank fresh made orange juice. it is very cheap and fast, nice staff, no plastic at all, and really biiiiig sandwiches! very near from U3 Zieglergasse station!

Pros: vegan vegan vegan

Cons: I was too full to eat a dessert LMAO

Amazing - wonderful desserts - Edit

I got the Italian burger, and it was so much nicer than expected. It reminds me of the Southern Californian Veggie Grill. I paid a couple of EUROs extra and got it with fresh orange juice.

I also had Tiramisu and a raspberry cheesecake, and they were both amazing.

High class fast food - and very fast service.

I will be back when I'm in Vienna again.

Pros: All vegan, Amazing desserts, Biodegradable cutlery

You MUST eat here! - Edit

The Swing burger was the best, the cheese burger had a few too many onions, the vegan nuggets were wonderful and with a delicious BBQ dip, and the sacher muffin (a traditional Austrian dessert) was lovely as well (especially the chocolate sauce on top). The atmosphere was upbeat and lively and created the feeling like we wanted to hang out there. It was really exciting that everything was 100% vegan.

Pros: Everything is vegan, Delicious, Great selection

Vienna's vegan quality fast food outlet! - Edit

There are two of these vegan burger bars in Vienna set up by the legendary Schillinger pub family. I assume the two are pretty much the same, I only had time to try out this one off Mariahilfer strasse. It's a strange feeling going into a place that looks and feels like a McDonald's with class and coming to terms with the notion that it's all vegan!!! Cool! I had two burgers from here on the same day and one was great the other (the Italian) was just average. I had onion rings instead of fries despite the cashier worker desperately pointing out it was not a 'menu option', I should have stuck with chips, the onion rings were sad tasteless affairs which even the nice garlic dip could not improve.
There was little hope of a healthy sugar free dessert and indeed the cashier almost scoffed at the very notion! So I chose what I hoped would be the least sugary option, the cheesecake. It was flavoury and succulent but a little too sweet for my taste. On the plus side they did do an Earl Grey tea but just one cups worth.
The woman on the till who took our orders was a right laugh, speculation amongst the straight edgers was that she was on "something" but I fear she was just tired and bored and made up for it by being a very amusing motormouth! Long may she reign!
The cafe is spacious, spotless and bright. But lacks warmth or charm. It would be good to see some sugar free cake and homemade onion rings or at least ones with some taste. I was impressed with their willingness to adapt their burger to suit our particular needs and the biodegradable plastic cups. But I'm not gona rush back here when next in Vienna unless I hear about an expanded menu.

Pros: Quick vegan food, Clean and bright venue

Cons: Tasteless onion rings!, Limited choice

naja :-/ - Edit

Very good vegan burgers! - Edit

The biggest advantage of their burgers is that the burgers were already designed as vegan and not "normal" burgers where the patty was swapped for a veggie one. Therefor the burgers are very well balanced in flavour and extremely tasty. The vegan cole slaw salad is to kill for. I just love that one! And don't forget about the delicious onion rings with bbq dip.

All in all, an excellent vegan fast food place that I always love to visit. Totally recommandable.

Pros: Very tasty, well balanced burgers, Excellent vegan cole slaw, Completely recyclable dishes

Best Vegan Burgers! - Edit

Swing Kitchen has the best vegan burgers ever! Also the vegan nuggets are to die for. Swing Kitchen is a fix visit when I'm in vienna. What I loved about the Swing Kitchen from the beginning was that they have a neat menu with 3 burgers and those are amazing. They’ve put a lot of effort into the composition of the burgers and that’s something you can taste and see when you have them in front of you. They are well crafted and beautifully designed – from the outside and the inside.

Pros: best burgers, awesome vegan nuggets, reasonably priced

great fast food - Edit

Fun, bright, nicely decorated, clean atmosphere with swing music playing. We had burgers, fries, and dessert. The burgers were a god size with crispy home made patties. I normally don't like thicker fries but these were so crisp and wonderful! The soft ice cream is tasty, good Cafe latte and good nougat cake dessert. For a fast food place this is great.

Best Vegan Burgers in Town - Edit

Best Burger Fastfood option in Vienna
try the cheeseburger and the nuggets...

the deserts are also worth a try (tiramisu!)

Pros: Everything is vegan, no plastic is used, nice 50ies style

Cons: not many tables...

A nice place but nothing amazing (for Vienna) - Edit

A typical fast food restaurant that is all vegan. The food is okay but nothing exceptional, desserts as well. The serving time is fast, the seating is limited and like a fast food place. If a wish arises for a amazing burger, this place is not it. Vienna has a wide choice of restaurants who serve vegan food and are more worthwile visiting. If you want to grab something to eat and experience isn´t your priority, this place will do.

Pros: completly vegan, fast serving time, easy access to the location

Cons: mediocre quality , limited seating

Just okay - Edit

I'd heard really good things about this place, so I was expecting something amazing. To be honest though, I thought it was just an upscale, meat-free version of McDonald's: fast food, and not really the best quality. The schnitzel burger was fine, but didn't really have any flavour and if I compare it with other vegan burgers I've had then it's a bit disappointing. I'd say it was a bit overpriced for what it was (especially the tiny portion of chips), and not really a must-visit in Vienna. The sacher-muffin was exceptional though!

Pros: All vegan, Excellent cake

Cons: Not much seating, Burger quite bland, Overpriced

It hit the right spot! - Edit

Today I went after rehearsing and I was VERY hungry, the staff was very nice, I got my food SUPER fast, and it was fantastic!

The down side is that I wanted to eat inside but there weren't many tables, so I ended up eating outside in the cold...

I ordered a cheeseburger with cole saw, and fresh orange juice. The burger didn't taste like meat whastover, had a lot of flavor, and it was super soft, but it didn't crumble, the bread is ordinary white bread, and a lot of it, but because I was very hungry I was okay with it.

The Cole saw was very flavorful, too much in my opinion, but I still ate it all, and the juice felt like something healthy to contrast the other stuff.

Over all, I recommend and will go again soon!

Pros: Very fast, tasty!, worth the money

Cons: not many tables to sit inside, maybe more burger options?

I hoped for better - Edit

Quite a few people recommended me this place so I tried it. The burger was expensive compared to other options in the neighbourhood (Loving hut for example had a great fresh burger with nice bread for half the price). The burger was a bit tooo much on the immitating meat side for my liking (red on the inside, meat taste ect), it scared me considering how long it was since I tasted something like that. The service was soo soo. Coleslaw was nice. I decided to give it another try with the Vienna burger, and well that sucked, I found the fresh onions too overpowering in the burger, and well it tasted a bit too gross. I didn't have a 'wow, this is addictive' moment, and I am a sucker for veggie burgers. I found the bread on both occasions quite bad, like just plain tasteless, too chewy, unhealthy white bread. Service was slower than I liked. I don't know why they have such a big bloody floorplan and they can't bring you the food, but you are given a number on your receipt and need to pick up the order based on the number-it's sooo impersonal. Other places i go to in vienna-vegan places, customers have a name, food is brought to you and for these prices and the number of people calling the numbers out they can gives you a bit of service. Service is sufficient, but not so great-basically all you speak with are the cashiers who are about as enthusiastic about their jobs as someone from mcdonalds. Basically, after two shots, and really trying to like it, I decided I won't be going there again-it's just not worth it.

Pros: vegan, also has deserts, take away

Cons: impersonal service, bad bread, too meat-like

delicious burgers - Edit

the food is delicious :) we got the food quickly. it is not cheap nor expensive. as others said before the atmosphere is in fast food style, but nicely. the coffee is fair trade and dogs get fresh water and small vegan cookies for free!

Pros: vegan only, fair trade coffee, friendly to pets

Really good burger - Edit

It was the first burger I had in years and was really good- swallowed it in a minute. The place was pretty crowded so I guess that means something.

Pros: Really good burgers and really fast service.

Cons: The guy behind the counter could have been nicer,

Love It! - Edit

If I could only use one word to describe Swing Kitchen it would be AWESOME! I loved their food and it was super fast, I'd hardly even made it back to my table before my number was called and my wrap was ready. The chocolate dipped soft serve is the best I've ever had (vegan or not) and I'm already trying to work out when I can go back to Vienna to eat there again.

Awesome vegan burgers, 50's restaurant style - Edit

Visiting Swing Kitchen was one of the highlights of my trip to Vienna.

I really liked the burgers, especially the "classic" Swing Burger with roasted onions. The add-ons were also very nice, but of course this restaurant has a slightly different calculation than McDonalds or other chains, so if you are used to those prices, you will possibly find the prices for drinks and fries a bit high (or the prices ok, but the portions a bit small).

Definitely a place to visit when in Vienna! Easily reached using the underground line 3.

Pros: Great burgers!, Nice authentic feeling

Cons: a tad pricy when compared to chains

below average - unfortunately a disappointment - Edit

I went to Schillinger a couple of times and always enjoyed the food very much, so I was thrilled that the owner finally opened an outlet in Vienna. What can I say. the staff wasn't very friendly, but you can't judge the quality of the food by that, so:

The burgers were boring and the coleslaw was soggy. My GF and I both didn't like it at all. Compared to other vegan fast food places such as Veganburg in Singapore, Universo Vegano in Rome or even Loving hut the food was below average, tasteless and bland. The dip for the onion rings was the best part of the meal.

I'm very sorry to say so, but lets not cloud the excitement that there is a vegan fast food place close to Mariahilferstaße cloud our judgement. Even the Steamliner at the regular fast food chain Johnny Rockets in the United States is better.

I had high expectations and was deeply disappointed. I'll stick to Loving Hut and Formosa the next time I'm back in Vienna.

Pros: location

Cons: unfriendly staff, bland and tasteless

Fantastiche! - Edit

The swing kitchen is the best vegan restaurant I have been to, the service was great, everyone was really friendly. The food was delicious! And really good value. The look and feel of the place is also another reason why we liked it so much. So sad we only had 24 hours in Vienna otherwise we would have had eaten there more! Please open a swing kitchen in London!

Pros: delicious food, nice venue, value for money

Cons: bring swing to London!

Great vegan burgers - Edit

I've been there a couple of times and always enjoyed it. I absolutely liked the Vienna Burger and Vienna wrap because the "Schnitzel" inside is really tasty. The pommes are also very delicious and the dips too. Just the salad with soy stripes was not mine also because there was too much oil inside. The tiramisu is good too as well as the cheese cake but a bit to sweet in my opinion. The only thing I would criticze is that all "meat" is made of soy. I don't have an allergy (fortunately) but I think it would be an option for the ones who have one to take something made of wheat or so and I also like the taste more ... But all in all a visit worth!

The staff has always been very friendly and I like that they clear the tables regulary.

A lot of people have lunch there so you have to expect a more louder place and it's also more a fast food location than for staying there an hour. But for this it's very nice implemented :)

The prices are also definitely fine for the quality and size.

Perfect burgers - Edit

I have to say, it was my best vegan burger to the date! Had Swing burger menu with pommes. So good, so tasty! Perfect texture and quite big size (just enough for me). Prices are good for Vienna. Yummi!

Excellent burger - Edit

I really enjoyed my burger at Swing Kitchen. It was tasty, had a good texture and the price was OK for Vienna standards.

The only thing I did not like was that there was no dip included in the menu. So I ordered one extra and was surprised that it was quite expensive and the portion was far too big. I do not like throwing edibles away, so I would have strongly prefered a smaller portion for a more reasonable price.

Pros: completely vegan, very tasty

Cons: no dip included in menu

Vegan-Meats - Edit

The Menu is small (which is good). There are 3 burgers, onion ring, French fries, 3 salads, all kinds of dips, 2 wraps, 3 desserts and organic drinks. The swing burger tastes really intense. The BBQ sauce (which is in the burger) tastes super smokey and intense too. It's hard to describe the taste but it's a really good place and it's perfect for men too (my boyfriend and brother loved it).

Pros: good quality food, not expensive , nice interior

By submitting this post you agree to HappyCow Terms

great food - Edit

the burgers and drinks are very good and the pricing is reasonable when you go for the meals - combo of burger, fries/salad and drink.
there should be a bit more (comfy) seating and i would prefer drinks in real glasses when you stay and eat.

Pros: great food, quick service, nice staff

Cons: seating, no real dishes/galsses
