Vast selection, amazing ingredients - Edit
It’s lovely to know that a raw vegan place can 1000% cater to my husband’s and my allergy restrictions. With most raw vegan treats containing bananas and walnuts, this bakery is fantastic as it is peanut-free, gluten-free, banana-free, and tree nut-free (except almonds, cashews, and coconuts).
Read moreWe grabbed a matcha bar, a tiramisu bar, an avocado key lime pie slice, and a chocolate cake slice. Sweetened with monk fruit and maple syrup, these treats are light on your stomach and don’t make you feel buzzed or sick. My husband is an avid cake hater. He doesn’t like the texture, but this isn’t your typical cake; it has the consistency of cheesecake, and it’s absolutely delicious.
The man who boxed our goodies and checked us out was very kind and knowledgeable. He seemed like an owner or manager, at the very least. Everything is extremely reasonably priced. Most raw vegan places cost twice (if not more) as much as Sweet Calibri, especially if you go downtown. We were able to get two desserts each without feeling guilty about how much we were spending or how much sugar we were eating.
As I recently switched to raw vegan, this place is a godsend. I’m incredibly grateful for more vegan places in the suburbia of Illinois. One tip for customers: go earlier than we did. We arrived at about 5:30, and the selection was very well picked over. Many items were gone or only had one left, so I’d advise customers to go early to get the best picks.
