We’ll drive all the way from Charlotte just for the bread! - Edit
The stecca bread is truly phenomenal. We love their selection of vegan deli sandwiches (I particularly enjoy the banh mi) mostly because they are served on stecca. The market always has interesting vegan items - today we found plant based Peeps!

Our favorite place near downtown - Edit
You gotta go try their stecca bread. It is $3.75 for a loaf and so good. They do a vegan egg and cheese as well as rotating vegan sandwiches like a veggie and tofu bahn mi. They also do smoothies and lentil soup.

Love This Spot! - Edit
A lot of places have plant based options, but I usually find that, in the case of breakfast especially, I can never find good balanced meals with enough protein. Swamp Rabbit's Vegan Egg & Cheese sandwich (I added tofu, tomato, and greens) ABSOLUTELY hit the mark for being super satiating and delicious. 100% will be getting again next time I'm in the market for breakfast!

A Few Great Vegan Options! - Edit
They have 2 or 3 great vegan options for each meal, and other menu items that can be veganized. I recommend the “Basil Couscous Salad” and “Tofu Bánh mì Sandwich.”

Cute with vegan options - Edit
Great place to stop on the trail. We were fortunate enough to be staying near here so I biked over for a vegan breakfast sandwich each day. There are a few vegan options on the cafe menu and more in the grocery store. I didn't get to check out the bakery but I'm told there are options there as well. Nice vibes with outdoor seating and a feeling of community.

Great Grub on the go! - Edit
Perfect lunch spot on the Swamp Rabbit Trail that’s always busy and filled with cyclists, walkers & families. We tried the Vegan Chimmy Chimmy Ya! A delicious sandwich filled with tofu, cheddar, pickled onions, Chimichurri sauce!

Great for parents with small kids! - Edit
This place has great food, but the best thing about it is the atmosphere and how cute it is. Most of the buildings are open air during nice weather which is really great. It is right ona bike trail and surrounded by trees. The staff is so nice and will help you if you have any questions about what or how to order. I told the cashier that it was our first time and he was extremely helpful and even gave us a free loaf of their house made stecca bread which is delicious. It was just me and my 5 and 3 year old boys this time. I ordered the viva vegan sandwich which was delicious. They split the vegan grilled cheese which was plenty of food for them. Both sandwiches are served on their homemade bread and were so good! They have a little water spigot outside so we had water and then after our meal I got an iced oat milk latte which was awesome. I’m not sure what kind of oat milk they use but it was really thick and creamy like a regular latte without the gross cows milk aftertaste.
Read moreWe then walked over to the outdoor kids play area and my kids played in there for about 2 hours while I drank my coffee. It is a fairly small fenced in area with a bunch of outdoor toys like cars and things, nothing spectacular but the kids loved it and because it’s so small it gives quite an intimate environment with the other parents and kids so they kind of just naturally play together. It is also very shaded out there due to all the trees so it was comfortable and cool the whole time. I highly recommend for any parents of small kids visiting the area to go to the Cleveland park playground, the children’s museum and this place. All 3 are musts. This play area is fully fenced and locks from the outside so you don’t have to worry about your kid running into the parking lot, just relax with your coffee and watch them play. I wish we had something like this where we live! Such a great idea. I wish we had brought our bikes because it would be so nice to bike around and then have lunch there afterwards

I love Swamp Rabbit - Edit
I love Swamp Rabbit! I love their stecca bread, and their vegan sandwiches are always delicious. They offer non dairy milk for coffee beverages. They make some really good vegan donuts! They offer healthy side options with entrees. Their salads are always fresh and ingredients are local. I like how they switch up their menu seasonally. I love ordering produce boxes from their grocery.

Great hummus sandwich! - Edit
Right on the Swamp Rabbit trail (rent a bike and cruise to downtown Greenville and ride out to ferman university for a fun and easy day of bike rides (flat trail no mountains ). We stopped in for lunch and smoothie. Bread was amazing and sandwich was huge. Me and my boyfriend split sandwich and got two vegan hulk smoothies and it was a perfect quick lunch. Lots of outdoor seating and a great grocery store to grab some vegan items too.

Wonderful place! - Edit
We went to check out the Vegan options. They had a peanut butter chocolate chunk cookie that was scrumptious. If I had been hungrier I would have tried the Turkish delight stuffed pastry. They had a Vegan option with coconut curry - description looked awesome. Also a nice grocery there. Nice outdoor patio. I definitely want to go there again.

A favorite local spot - Edit
This is one of my favorite local places to go to. The food is fresh and the homemade stecca bread is awesome. They do mix the menu up every few weeks. There is only usually one vegan item on the menu though (or one you can easily make vegan by not having cheese).

Local and organic focused - Edit
Vegan friendly and a few vegan varieties to choose from on the menu and in the little grocery store. Beautiful organic local produce in the store! A bit too much of an emphasis on meat for my comfort (especially with the clearly documented detrimental environmental impact of animal agriculture and this establishment’s image as “green”)

Great market, cute cafe, good coffee - Edit
I like this place a lot! Eat Local, Ride Bikes is there motto which I appreciate. At the cafe, I had the Humm Beet sandwich (interesting, good), an almond milk latte (good), and a squash donut (excellent, seasonal). All was well but I think they could offer more vegan options. They offered one other innately vegan option but they were all out. The market was great and had a lot of vegan-ness. We will stop in again while traveling. Next time we will take our bike and ride the greenway.

loved it! - Edit
The cafe food is yummy and the natural grocery store is amazing! I found many items that I haven't found before in other natural food stores and food co-ops in various states. I loved the abundance of fresh local produce and the vegan "meat" options, as well as all the locally made health & wellness items. In addition to the yummy quinoa salad I ordered from the cafe, I also picked up vegan jerky, and locally produced vegan cookies for our trip. The Swamp Rabbit also has a pizza stand outside with a great seating area, small playground for little ones, and is next to the bike trail. Overall fun experience!

Great coffee, great desserts - Edit
Coffee is amazing, and they have seasonal lattes. There's only one vegan dish on the menu, and it's a fairly small sandwich consisting of veggies and hummus on some really good housemade bread. The veggies are cool seasonal ones (I've had watermelon radish in one!), but it's just not a lot of food for the price. There are vegan donuts and cookies, which are all amazing.
Read moreStore has some vegan items; you have to browse a bit. There's some locally made vegan sweet potato ravioli, local ice cream, asheville's no evil foods products, etc. Kind of expensive compared to normal, but not expensive compared to other local market type places.
Pros: Vegan donuts and cookies, Local vegan products
Cons: Sandwich is underwhelming and pricey

First times a charm - Edit
I've only been here one time and I was looking for a specific local item had had purchased previously at the farmers market. They had the item I was looking for and I was completely surprised at how many things this little store offers. Fresh fruits and veggies, local products, and fresh food and drinks. I also tried my first vegan strawberry donut and it was delicious. I can't wait until I can make another trip there.
