Laugavegur 44-62, Reykjavik, Iceland, 101

Serves meat, vegan options available. A little, family run cafe whose specialty is soup in a bread bowl. No fixed menu, so there's different soups every day with half being vegetarian (unsure about vegan - ask).

No vegan option - Edit

There are only two souls two soups to choose from. One was leek potato the day I went and I was initially told it was vegan but I was suspicious and asked again. Turns out it was cream based. The soups looked great I was sad to leave.

Pros: there might be a vegetarian option every day

Cons: Not vegan, staff doesn't know what's vegan

Cute, Cozy, and Carefree - Edit

Happy Cow does not allow 5-star ratings for meat-serving restaurants, but we loved the simplicity of this little pub! They offer two daily-handcrafted soups, both served in bread bowls. You choose between one meat or one vegan/vegetarian option, with each meal totaling 1850 ISK (we paid roughly $35 for two bowls.) After choosing, your meal is immediately brought to your table. I especially enjoyed the quick service.

The restaurant itself sits atop a cute, shop-lined street, and the large widows allow for perfect people watching. They also serve local Icelandic beer on tap. No wi-fi, not handicap friendly, pay at counter
