Great food, mediocre service - Edit

Their food is freaking amazing. I love it. However, they have recently moved to a new location but it really isnt much bigger than their previous location (it was tiny). The three past times ive wanted to eat there with friends, we had to go elsewhere because it was full. So dont forget to reserve.... buttrt also, when yoj reserve for a certain amount of people (i think starting from 6 people), they give you the choice of only 2 full course meals that are around 30-35$ each i believe! That really isnt cool for students....

Pros: amazing food, a lot of choice, cute decor

Cons: much much better to reserve, imposed meals for groups of a certain size

Overpriced but great sushi - Edit

I was very excited to try their exotic and unique sushi creations. Anything with jackfruit is just awesome! However, I found their prices pretty high compared to other vegan sushi places. Worth trying for sure.

Pros: Unique taste, Exotic ingredients

Cons: High prices

Really nice, but you gotta have time. - Edit

Tried the place for a fast lunch while at work. I guess i should've mentioned it because the waiter was very relaxed. Food was great though, miso soup was perfect, they even sprinkle shichimi togarashi on the offered edamame (japanese spice mix). The beans were perfectly warm. They could accommodate with a gluten free menu which i find great, and it is mentioned that it takes more time to make them. Had some spicy rolls since it was cold, and i really enjoyed the tastes. They might be on the complicated side, but i really enjoyed them, they blend lime juice and spice perfectly. Might also be heavy to some in terms of mayo and avocado, but i really enjoyed it.

So food is very much to my liking, it was great, but maybe not the best place when you are in a hurry.

Pros: Good food, Creative seasoning, Staff friendly

Cons: Leisure time only

Overwhelming of Taste - Edit

i first trying to go there by making a reservation online. Received an email and text to confirm my same day reservation in the evening. i thought i got lucky. Then in the afternoon, they sent a text to say that, there had actually no place at the time i wanted. So i cancelled my trip. Second time, i made my reservation online again, 3 weeks in advanced. Received both email and text confirmation. i called them 3 days in advanced to make sure that my reservation is there. They told me no record of such reservation, so i made a reservation by that phone call. So, making online reservation might not be a good idea, better call.
When we arrived and while we were having dinner, we saw 3 - 4 groups of people (2-4 people each group) got turned away by the waiter because the tables were all booked, eventhough the restaurant was 3 quarter full. By the time we left at 7.30pm (arrived around 6pm), those few empty tables remained empty. At least through out our stay, the restaurant was not noisy and had a cozy nice ambient.
Our waitress were helpful. She told us what are the popular sushi and that normally, each adult eats around 15 pcs and children may be 5 pcs. We ordered quite a bit for 2 adults and 3 children (2, 4, 6), the bill came at slightly more than $100 without tips. I think we kind of ordered 20$ too much. Ended up packed ~10 pcs of sushis backed home.
My partner and me both found the taste of sushi very heavy on the tongue to the level which was uncomfortable. It was kind of difficult to tell what we were eating, the sushis were just overwhelming with something which made them tasted very heavy. Even when we were eating the left over the next day, i felt my tongue uncomfortable after just one pcs of sushi. (My partner ended up asking me, do you think they put MSG on the sushi??) Then they sprinkle almost all the sushi including the green steamed beans with some kind of red spice, which i guess, supposed to make the sushi taste better. However my children all found that red spice spicy and didn't like the sushi as normally they would.
May be i will go back again but not very soon. Very disappointed food for restaurant with such a good review.

Pros: Ambience, Service

Cons: Food, Difficult to see the number and sign of restaurant

Amazing sushi restaurant - Edit

Finally, a charming and beautiful vegan restaurant that also serves amazing food! We were a group of six people and had the group menu. We had the chance to try lots of different appetizers and sushis. Everything was amazing, I would not be worried to also invite my non-vegan friends to this place.

Pros: Amazing food, Great service, Charming

Cons: Not cheap, Somewhat crowded

Excellent sushi, but... - Edit

This place is always super busy. I had to wait a long time in the restaurant because nobody would pick up the phone for me to place my order in advance. I used to get delivery from their old spot on Duluth all the time, but it seems like they aren't planning on offering that from their new location. I find the space noisy, cramped, and awkward - but the food is really great.

Pros: delicious, great selection

Cons: always busy, no longer offers delivery, weird space

Delicious Sushi - Edit

The sushi at Sushi Momo was excellent. We didn't have a reservation and they found us a seat anyway. We tried a number of different kinds of rolls and we loved the kinoku, the Momo and the Quebec. Actually, we loved them all. Delicious and good service.

Pros: Delicious food, Fresh Ingredients, Good service

Cons: Noisy

Amazing Japanese food! - Edit

This place is really amazing. It offers a very huge choice of makis, futomakis and Japanese food, all 100% vegan. Everything is very original, finely prepared and nicely presented. Quantities are good and prices are consistent with food quality. The staff is friendly, the place is pleasant, all ingredients for a wonderful meal. It is recommanded to make a reservation because the place is often full.

Pros: excellent and original Japanese food, huge menu, friendly staff, nice place, fair prices

BEST SUSHI EVER - Edit

That's all I can say!!! BEST SUSHI EVER! All is TOOOOOTALLY vegan - and I am so pleased every time I visit! I wish I had 2 more stomachs, so I could eat MORE. Definitely need to visit if you're vegan, veggie or just enjoy really delicious sushi. They have very typical types but also experimental. All is just too good.

amazing vegan sushi for all sushi lovers! - Edit

My husband and I have been to sushi momo several times, even when they used to have both a traditional menu and the vegan menu. He is not vegan and had always got fish sushi in the past. But on our last few visits since sushi momo became 100% vegan, he has tried their amazing vegan sushi and he really thinks it's even better!! We've taken a few non-vegan friends there now and everyone was blown away. Keep it up sushi momo! You are so creative and delicious and I love that you are now serving an all vegan menu. We love the momo role, the tropical, the jackfruit one. We now can finally share the chef's choice dinner for 2 and it has never disappointed!

Soooooo gooood - Edit

Boy am I happy to have this restaurant in my city! They have such a vast selection in their menu, and from all the things I've tasted in the assortment package, every single item was mouthwatering!Their vegan sushis are tastier than the non vegan sushis from what I can remember of my non vegan days :P The place is very small & cozy, make sure you make a reservation before going! And the service is great. The lady made special off the menu accommodations for my friend who was allergic to cacao when it came to dessert. So sweet :) oh and their music playlist is the bomb! We need more Sushi Momos across the world!

Creative & Delicious - Edit

Visiting from out of town and Sushi Momo was at the top of our list, and it should be at the top of yours too! Highly recommend this restaurant. Servers are attentive and friendly. We ordered the Chef's choice sushi of the night (25 pieces) and we were not disappointed with the selection! The starter salad was very tasty, and I loved the mango in the dressing. My dining partner had the miso soup...I tasted it and have to say it's one of the best I've had. For appetizer we had the gyoza. They were good, but I prefer steamed, and these were fried. We finished the meal on a high note, with some super delicious coconut ice cream. If you're in Montreal, you MUST eat at Sushi Momo!!

Amazing - Edit

Everything I tried was really good, especially the Tropical, the sushis with jackfruit and the roll with portobello and cucumbers.

The miso soup is PERFECT and the fish bites, one of the vegan appetizers, is really good.

The presentation is very fancy.

The place is very nice, but packed. Make sure you have a reservation.

$10 vegan sushi lunch special was to die for - Edit

The best vegan sushi experience I've had! We went for lunch; they offer a $10 "chef's choice" vegan sushi meal. Started out with a delicious, fresh salad with crunchy, flavorful vegetables - carrots, beets, sesame seeds, apple, sprouts, and a fantastic dressing with just a little heat. Then came awesome miso soup with delicate, succulent mushrooms. Finally the sushi - a generous serving of 10 pieces stuffed with mouthwatering veggies. I was in heaven.

The atmosphere is quaint and cute. Service was impeccable. This was my favorite meal during my several-day trip to Montreal. It's a must!

Pros: incredible sushi, friendly service, lunch value

Best Vegan Sushi options I've ever had. - Edit

This adorable little restaurant with friendly staff is amazing. With a separate vegan menu, and actual variety in the choices just like for the traditional sushi, it's just so easy, and also delicious.
They had a table d'hôte and it was a good price, good (very filling) portion, and really tasty options.
Keep in mind it's a very small space. While we were there, a group of 5 came in. there are only a few very small tables (MAX 4 places on the bigger tables). They created discomfort by taking too much space and being noisy, plus they were blaming the staff for the lack of chairs. It's obviously a place for couples or eating alone, or a group of max 3 people, MAYBE 4.
To conclude, great place for a date or an nice outing with a friend :)

Pros: delicious, very vegan friendly, cute environment

Cons: small capacity

Literally THE Best Sushi - Edit

I went here for dinner with my boyfriend and we were impressed with how good the sushi tasted. Our waitress was very nice and helpful when it came to explaining items on the menu. I chose the vegan meal while my boyfriend chose the non-vegan one - for both there was a large variety of sushi to choose from ! You could really tell all the ingredients were fresh and a part of a creative process of cuisine ! The portions were also big, there was nice music playing, and even just the restaurant itself holds a very comforting atmosphere with wooden chairs and tables and cubist and japanese paintings. My boyfriend and I left full and more than satisfied (: 100% recommend !!! I will be going back in just a few days (:

Pros: large choices, creative cuisine, accomodating and friendly staff

Cons: none

Vegan #1 - Edit

I just moved here one year ago and I have been disappointed by all of the "amazing vegan restaurants" (especially aux vivres). I finally went to the new Sushi place, "Sushi Momo" last week with two of my friends. I was so happy to find a place that offered interesting vegan dishes! Usually I have to opt out and eat only salad when I dine out with my carnivore friends. At Sushi Momo they actually offered a vegan menu! The service was amazing and so was the food. I would recommend this place to any vegan and their friends. PS vegan miso soup and deserts available too!

Pros: service, taste, price

Cons: only white rice, small space, too many options!

Must visit - Edit

I've never had vegan sushi that wasn't your typical pickled vegetables, beancurd, and avocado but I'm so glad that sushi momo is doing vegan sushi that is outside of the box.
There are about 30 vegan options on the menu ranging from small one ingredient sushi (3$-4$) to special combos (5$-10$). My boyfriend and I shared three menu items and got one each also. Everything we had was delicious and I wanted to get takeaway for lunch the next day as we were leaving Montreal but there was an hour wait for takeaway orders.
Highly recommend eating here for some amazing food.

Pros: Good prices , Quiet, Something different

Cons: Very small, Long wait for takeaway (kinda worth it)

sushimomo 31 Dec 2014 - Thank you so much for your review! We work hard to have a big selection of creative vegan sushi rolls - glad you enjoyed them. As for the wait time for takeout, we're very sorry for that. We were busier than we expected during our first few weeks. However, we have since hired several more staff, so wait times are much more reasonable now. Hope to see you again! :)
