Delicious vegan sushi!! - Edit
I was so excited to go here today, and I was not disappointed! I ordered the miso soup, rainbow roll, another roll with the G-ken floss (like pork floss but made from soy), Inari and wakami(?) rolls. My boyfriend ordered fried rice and some rolls as well. Everything we tried was delicious, although all the rolls in the menu seemed to contain the same things. A little pricier than what we usually aim to spend on a meal, but I would say it was worth it! It was nice to have japanese food without worrying about fish sauce the whole time! And the staff were super friendly! Highly recommend!
Pros: Delicious vegan sushi
Cons: menu is a bit repetitive

Rare Vegan Japanese Food - Edit
Was recently in Japan and it is very hard to find japanese food with fish etc. so i am glad we tried this place. a good amount of options but a lot were very similar. compared to other options in Panang i think it is quite good. it is worth a try and i would recommend going if you a couple days here. just nice to try japanese food without the worry, right!
Pros: lots of vegan options. relatively cheap. japanese
Cons: very repetative menu. similar options. the food se

Healthy Japanese food! - Edit
I went there twice during my holidays. If you are following a whole food plant-based diet, you will love this restaurant as much as I do.
I tried their sushi as well as other Japanese dishes. Everything was delicious. I high recommend this restaurant.
Natural and fresh ingredients! The staff is also super friendly and speaks English!
Pros: whole food plant-based, natural and fresh ingredients, japanese style interior
Cons: difficult to find

Delicious, healthy & cosy Japanese restaurant - Edit
Super cosy and quaint healthy vegan Japanese restaurant. Vegan sushi with homemade mayo, a lot more interesting than your typical cucumber maki. Their noodles were delicious too! The waitress was also super friendly!

THE sushi place in Penang - Edit
A cool and pleasant place to have sushi in George Town, Penang. Really nice staff, cozy tables and some great other choices on the menu. I've enjoyed it a lot.
Pros: Great sushi, Cozy
Cons: Maybe a bit too quiet, Some dishes might seem pricy

AMAZING - Edit
Simply amazing. Creative, fresh attitude, the best fried rice recipes in town, great sushi, veg mayo that blows your mind, original menu overall. Love it. Both branches in Penang. The one in Plaza Gurney is more of a conventional environment, the Georgetown's one is more hippie. Loved both experiences.
Pros: Creative menu, Vegan mayo, Great concept
Cons: Working hours, A little bit expensive

My idea of heaven. - Edit
The sushi was the best I ever had in my life. Not just vegan sushi, but even before I went vegan. Nothing could keep up with this.
These people have a vision and they are working hard to establish more of a vegan community in Georgetown. Amazing work!
We got involved in a tea ceremony with the owner - an absolutely lovely person.
I still dream about this place.
Go there. Just do it.
Pros: Best sushi on earth, Amazing staff, What's not to love?

sushi too salty and fatty, expensive - Edit
Have been there because of the good reviews and because I love sushi.
First of all I have to say that I loved the atmosphere, great relaxing music in the background, really friendly service, nice interior.
I had the sweet potato noodles and a huge mixed plate of suhsi and some spicy sishi rolls. The noodles were pretty tasteless and did not have much flavour. The sushi was absolutely stunning to look at, but the taste was not mine at all. Even without the soy sauce it was already way too salty and a lot of fat (vegan mayonnaise I guess). Definitely had better sushi and for that price I wouldn't go there again.
Pros: completely vegan restaurant, nice atmosphere
Cons: expensive, food not that great

Excellent Vegan food - Edit
This is a very good restaurant in George Town, Penang, where I lived for almost two years. The concept here is sort of a slow food movement, so you have to wait a bit to get your food, but the food is excellent and very tasty. They have both Chinese and Japanese food. Definetly worth trying it!
Pros: Tasty food, No GMOs, No chemicals

WOW! Amazing. - Edit
From the minute I walked in I could feel the energy of this little oasis. Adam the server and milk the chef are both such amazing people. But let's talk food. I had the durian yes durian sushi. My first time to try durian. It was out of this world. I later had some regular plain durian. It was much better in their sushi.
Then I had the buckwheat noodles with carrots and sweet potatoes. So delicious and tasty. I topped off the night with Thai green curry made with spirulina over brown rice. Incredible. Organic. Vegan. Delicious. I will make a trip back to Penang just to visit with the staff and to have the most amazing vegan food.
Pros: taste , staff, ambiance
Cons: I wish I had found it earlier.

I came here on a special trip after waiting over the weekend for it to open. Boy was it worth the wait!! The couples sushi platter was easily the best vegan food I've had in Penang. Beautifully presented, completely delicious and organic. Great service too.

We chose this as our new year's eve dinner place and couldn't have chosen better. Such a lovely place, sweet staff, and above all, the food! So lovingly made, so tasty and yummy. I really cannot find words appreciating enough. Go there and taste yourself. You won't be disappointed. We liked especially 7 spices & sesame makis and global warming.
Pros: SO delicious!, completely vegan menu, easy on stomach

serene space with vegan japanese food - Edit
This is my absolute favorite restaurant & place to chill in penang. It combines all my preferences... Japanese organic vegan food, a serene space with great service by passionate people who live their beliefs.
It serves sushi, inside-out rolls, inari, wakame, miso soup, rice dishes, & creative cuisine including sweet potato noodles & other gluten free delights. Also serves porridge, fried udon dishes & tasty, refreshing beverages like homey nutmeg juice. My favorite is 'mango sushi' which they only offer when mangoes are perfectly sweet in season.
The portions are a good size & price is very reasonable. A great place to take friends & share meals.
The atmosphere is calm with low lighting, chilled lounge music & soft air-con (not too cold). There is raised floor seating on pillows & a bench / bar for those who prefer to be off the ground.
The people who work there are incredibly lovely, polite & helpful. Ask them what they recommend - you won't be dissapointed.
The door is always closed over, so just go straight in, it keeps the inside quiet & cool.

Worlds Away from Georgetown - Edit
Stepping into this tiny, tucked away Japanese restaurant was like entering into an entirely different country. After driving across the island, walking through the desert-like streets of Georgetown and gasping for respite, Sushi Kitchen was an unexpected Gift!
We rolled in after the lunch hour, it was just quieting down. The waiter was super-sweet, spoke good English and did not fail to recommend us delicious dishes. We had been eating fruit almost exclusively for a week (and had stuffed ourselves with only durian for two days) and were so excited to have a yummy meal and especially some A/C...more than anything! Yes, there is AC.
Had the Happy Spicy Noodle bowl, which reminded us of Shin Ramen. Very home cooked and nostalgic. The restaurant is very aware of the ingredients they use, organic vegetables and no cane sugar, gmos, white salt, no MSG etc. I was impressed to find this sort of food consciousness living in Georgetown!
They have vegan sushi, soup, noodles, salads and fried rice dishes. The service was so, so sweet, and made us feel very welcome. I recommend this place to anyone, I had a very positive, uplifting and delicious meal there. It is very, very vegan and more transparent and easy-to-manage than most other options in that area. So nice to not ever worry about sugar, MSG or cross-contamination.
Thank you Sushi Kitchen!!
Pros: Air Conditioned, All Vegan, Funky, Cozy, & Cute

Great Idea- but needs work! - Edit
What a great idea, vegan sushi in Penang!
For a foody heaven, Penang has not yet grasped the idea that people might want to eat healthy vegan food. Lots of tourists so the concept is great, too bad the execution has gone so poorly wrong.
Read the reviews and was excited.
It is not hard to find in any way and is well signed.
Cute small space, but poor design makes it cramped and uncomfortable.
If you are lucky enough to get one of the floor seating tables you are great, otherwise you are seated at a long table with a short wood divider between you and your fellow dinners, think visiting hour at the local prison.
For such a small place the service and kitchen seemed over whelmed in just 1/2 hour into the dinner service.
Menu had many good looking choices, but when people ordered they were told that many of the items were not available because they had run out of vegetables and rice. Not sure how it is they were out of produce, there are large supermarkets and fresh markets in Penang where vegetables are available every day of the week.
A vegetarian/vegan place that has no vegetables? Not a happy thing.
It would of been easier if they had told us what they had available ( maybe a shorter menu on a chalk board) instead of hearing, "sorry, no have" after every selection.
My spicy noodle bowl was spicy and had lots of noodles, but nothing better than you could make in a college dorm with a package of Ramen, some spices and a kettle.
My husband's special rice bowl was greasy and had one or two tiny pieces of cabbage and carrot in it, not very special.
At least we got served, the poor guy across from us was still waiting for his meal, after his companions had long since ate, he may be still waiting today.
Plus... the Global Warming sushi roll we had was fantastic!!!!!!
Not sure I would go back, although there a limited choices in Penang things are changing.
The sushi roll did not make up for the price and disappointing experience
:(

Awesome food... Healthy, tasty and affordable - Edit
Delicious and guilt-free in so many ways!!!
Most of the food you eat in Malaysia is heavy and often quite oily and may include copious portions of mock meat... So this place was a welcome change!
The staff/owners are friendly ,welcoming and attentive.
Menu items include sushi, inari, Gunkan, hand rolls.
Fried rice 9 types of fried rice
6 types of udon noodles
6 types of other noodle soup
4 types of porridge
True you have to choose between sitting on the floor and at a side bench... But there's a nice atmosphere to the place.
Finding it is a little difficult... It's on the west side of lebuh acheh street and near the intersection with lebuh Victoria..just north of the intersection ..look for a closed wooden door with a small neon sign in the window which lights up to say " open" when it is open.
Pros: Yum and cheap, Healthy and fresh, No msg, garlic, onions, additives
Cons: Hard to find, Seating

Sushi Kitchen in George Town - Edit
Sushi Kitchen is hidden away in a run down street George Town and can easily be missed. They serve Japanese Organic vegan plant-based food. With its basic Japanese style interior of low tables and wooden benches, you can try sushi, udon noodles, spaghetti and fried rice dishes.
No MSG, artificial colorings, preservatives, onion or garlic are used. I've been a couple of times and can recommend the happiness sushi set if there are four of you, as it offers 18 delicious pieces of sushi. Also the seaweed fried rice is absolutely delicious.
Pros: vegan, healthy with no MSG, quirky interior ad exterior
Cons: Seating, on floor or hard benches, A bit expensive

Healthy and delicious! - Edit
My friend and I were looking for a veg place that opened for dinner - hard to find in Penang for some reason. We stumbled upon this gem by chance when we were walking to an art gallery and decided to give it a try.
We both had noodle soups that were delicious. I had an organic soup with spirulina noodles and a hand roll. I felt nourished and satisfied. A great break from the heavy curries of Malaysia!
Pros: All vegan, Healthy, Friendly staff
Cons: I could not find sink to wash my hands?.
