Been wanting to go for ages

Very very clear vegan options with great service. No booking, just walk in as place is small - we arrived around half 5 on a Saturday and got lucky with tables inside as very windy outside.

Food was great, Java curry was something new to me! Vegan options for the protein option being the cheapest is great to see too😄

A huge thank you for showing us some love on Happy Cow, as well as Google!

We genuinely appreciate you taking the time to share your experience in both places, it means the world to a small independent spot like Sushea. We’re so glad the Java Curry was a hit! We take a lot of pride in making our vegan options just as 'imaginative' and flavour-packed as the rest of the menu.

Would love to welcome you back soon!

Underwhelmed

We had high hopes for this place, coming from Australia and being familiar with Asian fusion cuisine. The service was very slow - over half an hour to get a menu (and then only because went in twice about it - and then told just to use the app, though others were given paper menus) , a bit over an hour before any food arrived, drinks came well after the food, which the server indicated was deliberate so we'd get fed sooner or some such thing that didn't really make sense. Only one waiter (older blonde female) who was highly stressed and making lots of errors and at times tipping into hostile behaviour. Appreciate they were understaffed but it's difficult to have a relaxing lunch with a passagg waiter. wasnt serving people in order they came in so all a bit random. I've been a waiter myself and it is possible to be busy and serve with good grace without takign it out on the customer. With my autistic daughter who wanted something non-standard from the menu (meaning we couldnt order online) which we were told we'd have to pay double for the portion and get a whole length of maki - this was repeated a few times, we didnt mind but when it came it really wasnt that big of a serve (or big of a deal that was made about it). This was our only meal out for the holiday and was really marred by the service. The food was pretty good on the whole (apart from the okonomiyaki which I have had a lot of previously and this dish was nothing like anything I've had before - very heavy on the cabbage and had a disproportionate amount of bonito flakes on top), but honestly wish we'd chosen somewhere else.

Pros: A lot of the food was nice , Good people watching spot , Different food offering for Newquay

Cons: service , Okonomiyaki - very cabbagey!

First and foremost, we would like to apologise for the experience you had. This is certainly not the level of service we strive for, nor is it representative of the typical atmosphere at our restaurant.

As a small, independent business, we pour our hearts into what we do. While we appreciate your acknowledgment of this, we understand that it shouldn't result in a stressful experience for our guests.

We always aim to accommodate dietary needs and preferences, especially for families. We’re sorry that the explanation regarding the portioning felt repetitive or fell short of your expectations.

We’re glad you enjoyed most of the meal, though we’re sorry the Okonomiyaki wasn’t to your personal taste. Our chef’s take on fusion can sometimes differ from traditional versions, but we value the feedback.

We truly regret that your one holiday meal was marred by these hiccups. We would love the opportunity to welcome you and your daughter back under better circumstances to show you the seamless, friendly service we are actually known for.

Highly recommend!

Lots of vegan options and delicious. Friendly staff. I want to go back and try every vegan thing on the menu. Not the biggest place and they don't do reservations but have more seating outside with heaters.

Great Sushi

Great dishes lots of vegan options, larger dishes are great. It's a sushi place so you do spend more but the maki as a side to a main is a good price.

Ok

I was impressed with the number of vegan options here.

My first choice was the Roti Taco with tofu as its something I've not had before but sadly they advised it was not available that day.
Second choice was the Asian burger which was another thing I'd not had before.
The burger itself was OK, a little expensive for £12.50 for just a burger and slaw.

Excitingly, they had 3 vegan dessert options so I was glad I still had room for one of these. I had the Sweet Inari Tofu. The vegan option came with ice cream rather than cream.

Unfortunately, my partners Ramen had a large hair in it which was a disappointment.

Would give 5 ⭐

The best gyozas I have ever ever had. Dog friendly, nice little cosy venue. I had a take away but would 100% return again and again. There are loads of options for vegans and other diets.

Pros: Dog friendly , Lots of vegan options

Delicious vegan options

We had the tofu rolls the gyozas and the tempeh bao buns, all really tasty, they have a lot of options so I’m looking forward to trying some other stuff from their menu. I’d give it 5* if happy cow would let me

Vegan sushi options

Clearly marked menu with about a third of it vegan, including minimaki, tempeh bao buns. Fresh, beautifully presented and delicious. You can sit in to eat if one of the (few) tables is free.

Pros: Lots of vegan options

Cons: Pricy!

Inventive and tasty

As sushi places go, this place has an amazing offering. We tried 5 different sushi rolls, the tofu poke bowl and tempeh edamame salad. Far more interesting and inventive than the standard avo or cucumber hosomakis.

Pros: Plenty of vegan, Clearly marked menus

Cons: Maybe a little expensive
