Don't know what vegan even means

This place advertises vegan options on their menu. Upon ordering one of them, I double checked with the waiter that the alioli was indeed fully vegan. He came back from the kitchen and told me it wasn't because it had mayonnaise and sent a different waiter to talk to me. I asked them why it was labeled on the menu as vegan and the waiter told me "it is vegan, it's just a little bit of mayonnaise. We can't just take out one ingredient. If you don't like it you don't have to eat it."
Avoid.

Hello! We´re very surprised to find this negative feed back here. First time we log in here to be fair... I (co-owner of this family business) used to eat only plant based for some years, but that´s not why i´m here. I´m here to react on your review and to tell you our Alioli is home made but indeed with a mayonnaise basis and corn oil so it has egg in it. So it´s not vegan, and the kitchen confirmed that and the waiter took the effort to check with the kitchen so I don´t see the problem here. I know how eating out vegan can be a struggle but we do our best to have several options. We do have many vegan, gluten free and vegetarian options though. Just to give some vegan options; we have canarian potatoes with red mojo, Papas bravas, mixed salad (ask to leave out the tuna), vegan paella, spaghetti Neapolitan, olives, bruschetta (ask to leave out the cheese), Padron peppers, vegetal lasagna. We hope you had some good food during your visit...

I appreciate that you are on this platform to collect feedback on your restaurant. That is more than most places would do. However, the reason for the negative review is that the menu which I was handed by the waiter upon visiting your restaurant a week ago listed 4 vegan options: the bread with alioli, the potatoes with mojo, olives and the spaghetti neapolitan. I chose the bread with alioli as a starter and the spaghetti as the main. It's possible that the menu was just very outdated or plain wrong, but the issue comes with me having ordered a dish labelled on the menu as vegan, which turned out to have mayonnaise in it. I only found this out upon double checking and would otherwise have consumed eggs, which can be an even bigger issue for people with allergies. I am happy to link the menu I received as it is the first thing that comes up when I search for your menu on Google as well as being the official menu on your Facebook page. The waiter who served our table also was not very apologetic about the mistake, made it sound like it was my own fault and kept trying to assure me that the dish was "a little vegan", leading me to believe that the restaurant staff doesn't really know what vegan means.

We´re sorry to hear that our team didn´t treat you as we would do ourselves. Some things are out of our hands from the moment you work with a team... I´ve uploaded a veg/vegan version of our menu so it´s easier than to have to separate it yourself from the other thing. I hope it helps. Wishing you a wonderful day and hope to see you back one day so we can make the 1 star 5 stars😉

Great Paella

An overall good experience, the establishment is as tacky as you’d expect for a beachfront cafe but the staff were very friendly.
When we ordered it took a lot of clarification with the waiter that we wanted the paella vegan as although their description on Happy Cow lists vegan paella as an option, when we got there and looked at the menu it was labelled as vegetarian.
The first drink I was served wasn’t what I’d ordered but no biggie, I had it anyway.
Although the restaurant was completely empty, bar a couple that ordered sandwiches, our food took a long time to arrive BUT when it came it was really nice and we ate the whole thing even though it was massive because it was so nice. The only thing I’d say is that typically a paella is cooked so as to form a crust on the base which we didn’t have but it made no impact on the tastiness.
An overall good experience as the food made up for any other grievances and the prices felt fair, although the waitress did not give us the option to keep the change from our bill and simply never returned with it… not really an issue as we’re tipping people but it definitely wasn’t optional.

Pros: Good food, Friendly service

Cons: Menu unclear on vegan options, Crustless paella

lol about the place looking tacky. Can´t say we have the prettiest looking terrace on the island 🤪 Our kitchen is more clean than the average Spanish restaurant, we´re happy to show you around. This would not be the first time we show someone around in the kitchen for people with celiac for example. Our team must always bring the change back, that is not how it should have gone. We´re sorry you didn´t have a great experience, but we hope the taste of the paella was at least fantastic! The drink looks like you were having a piña colada, I hope you asked to make one with coconut cream and malibu, as we do in our cocktail bar (Mymzy Beach) because the one we standard make in Sunset Taurito is not vegan, the coconut rum is laced with cream. Thanks for showing us what we can make better over time! We appreciate our client´s words and opinions and are here to listen and take action on it.
