Good wrap

We got the Asian wrap with tempeh, lettuce, carrots and a sesame soy dip. Pretty good.

What a gem in the middle of nowhere!

I seriously just thought I wouldn’t eat today but Happy Cow came through again. Great store with great products, some of which I’d never seen before. And the in-house made baked goods?? OMG! So great. They Sugar Plum as well and Temple coffee. The only reason I’m giving 4 stars is because I was starving and the deli was closed because it closes at 2. What a weird closing time??? They had great pre-made stuff though so now I’m reconsidering but damn I wanted a deli sandwich. Maybe next time.

Vegan Options

Sunflower has a generous variety of vegan options! My favorite new menu item is the vegan breakfast burrito!!! And the spinach quinoa salad!!! Mmmm! They also offer juices, smoothies, and temple coffee with plant based milks!

Many great vegan options!

Treasure of a small grocery/health food store with a large area devoted to freshly prepared food to eat in their very casual but comfortable space, or for take out. We had tempeh burger and a tempeh wrap, both stuffed full of lots of veggies and toppings, and both surprisingly delicious (surprising because it was very inexpensive and the space gives off a no-frills vibe). Super helpful service. Bread had locally sourced honey but they can do the wrap or use a lettuce wrap if you want to avoid the honey. Great find!

Down Home Food from the Farm

Sunflower Natural Food Store and Deli in Yuba City is wonderful! What impressed me most was the separate, extensive Gluten Free Menu in the Deli. Hooray for GF'ers! I had a GL sandwich with fresh vegetables (sprouts, cucumber, avocado, tomatoes, etc.) and a bowl of fresh leek and potato soup. My partner had a vegetarian BBQ Sunshine Burger with sprouts, tomatoes, lettuce, etc. and kept saying this is excellent, wow, this is really excellent. My soup and sandwich were great (something I really missed when going GF). All in all, it is worth the trip up to Yuba City for a change in scenery and menus. Expect to see the hometown locals at Sunflower Natural Food Store. They know where to find good food. It can get crowded at lunch, so do be sure to leave a little time for lunch or call ahead for take-out. They also have some pre-package items that would be great for picnics.

Pros: Great Deli, Large menu, Local Atmosphere

When in Yuba

Staff was very friendly although when they pronounced Vegan in sounded more like Vagaan (alien sounding from a Sci-Fi movie) Market has plenty to offer someone that is traveling through the city and in need of a Deli option for lunch or breakfast.

Pros: Easy to Find, Vegan, Friendly

Cons: Pricey, Moderate selection
