Sukjai Thailand Plant-Based

Literally everything was delicious and phenomenal. Every dish that came out was super 👌🏾. The bathroom smells amazing and are very clean too.
You have to save some room to get dessert.

Upscale Thai cuisine

Recently opened restaurant with a dedicated owner and team. They organically grow their own rice and some of the produce used in their dishes, make their own mock meats free of chemicals or preservatives, and cook food that is free of MSG. They were recently awarded a Michelin mention which they very much deserve. The food is delicious, very clean feeling and esthetically served. Portion sizes are generous and prices although a little higher than Chiangmai average, are certainly reasonable for the quality and ambience. Mostly vegan with just a couple dishes made with eggs. Ask to omit eggs, the owner and staff are very knowledgeable. Highly recommended ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Varied menu from a famous Bangkok chef

The owner made her name working in Bangkok and then retire to the North, opening up this vegetarian Chiang Mai restaurant.

An extremely diverse menu, with Northern favourites like sai ua (herbal sausage) and gaeng hanglay (Northern Burmese influenced curry), Sino-Thai dishes like kanom pak gad (savoury radish cakes), Southern kua kling curry (a dry curry), unique dishes that are difficult to find like pad pak gud (stir fried fern), and plenty of central Thai style dishes as well. There's soups, curries, stir fries, fried foods, and more.

Of note is the pickled hibiscus salad. Their pla duk pad prik choo chee (faux fish stir fried with choo chee chilli paste) is also extremely inspired. The fish is made from tofu and is one of the better vegan fishes I've tried.

Staff are lovely and at least one member of staff speaks English, so they can explain the Thai only specials board (which also includes sweets) if you need help.

It's worth going out of your way to come here.

Pros: How varied and well thought out the menu is, Gorgeous space, Innovative menu items with homemade mock meats

Cons: I wasn't in CM for long enough to try more

Good atmosphere

Lively atmosphere and beautiful building and decor. But the food wasn't the best. Nothing wrong just had better. Also felt that the menu wasn't very varied.

Beautiful presentation

Beautiful restaurant in a traditional old wooden building with lovely service.

We ordered quite a few dishes, but it was a bit hit and miss. The jackfruit phad kaprow was fantastic - great texture but super spicy. The nam phrik ong and mushroom larb were both great. The appetisers plate was okay. The phad Thai was really quite unexceptional. The crispy tofu salad was interesting, but the dressing was crazy sweet. I sent it back, but the kitchen was unable to customize it to make it sour rather than sweet, so they offered me lime juice to add instead.

The prices were okay, given the setting and the presentation of the food, but it's not a cheap meal.
