Excellent curry! - Edit
Title says it all. Nice selection of vegetarian (and vegan) curries. Be careful with the spicy one - unlike in some places "hot" means "hot" here, so be advised (coming from a seasoned spicy food enjoyer).

Izakaya with super tasty food, I think that we took every vegan recipe from the menu card (from the smaller dishes, so not the curry)
Read moreThe waiter is also super friendly, for example, we both ordered shochu, without ever having drank it and he gave us two different ones so that we could taste the difference (wheat vs sweet potato)
Conclusion : great food, cozy atmosphere, friendly staff, a recommendation ;)
I would give 4.5 stars if happy cow would let me ;)

Delicious vegan curry - Edit
There were several different vegan options, we had the Suisai (classic Japanese style) curry and the Green Curry and both were delicious. It’s a cute little place that also serves as an Izakaya at night (they also have vegan small dishes) with a wonderful atmosphere and very kind staff. This place absolutely made my arrival in Onomichi! Highly recommended!

I'm in Onomichi for the first time and it was quite difficult to find a restaurant with vegan options. I'm quite happy that I found Suisai. Very nice atmosphere, staff speaks English and the food was very delicious. And everything without worrying or asking if it's*really* vegan 🤭

Onimichi is not a place known for its vegetation / vegan options, but thankfully there is suisai. My partner and I tried many dishes here, including the sweet potato croquettes, tofu in a miso glaze, stir fried mushrooms with garlic, the potato fries and the gelati. It was hard to rank the dishes because they were all so delicious.
Read morePeople complain in other reviews that the food takes a while. I didn't find the wait to be long, and I personally was in no rush. The restaurant has a nice vibe, and I've learned that good food takes time. This is not fast or frozen food. Everything I ate at suisai was homemade and very fresh. Even the potato fries came out on a hot plate and were so oven roasted that they melted in my mouth.
A big shoutout to the owner and the other wait staff. They were all incredibly friendly and spoke good English. I learned that the owner used to live ten minutes from the town I currently reside (in Adelaide, Australia) for a couple of years when she was a student. It's a small world!
This restaurant deserves only good customers. They are making quality food at a good price. They are doing this with great professionalism and customer service. Thanks to the owner for making our experience here so memorable :)
