“Pastrami” beets did not satisfy

We loved the vibe here. Blankets to help you stay warm in wi tee months. Wacky ice cream combos. But, the vegan Reuben was not my fave. Supposedly the beets were “pastrami” but they just tasted like beets.

Pros: Good to have plant based options, Fun ice cream combos , Nice staff & atmosphere

Cons: They could use a better plant based pastrami, Bathroom is a very long walk on a cold day

Long Line at Sugarpine

I ordered the plant-based version of the Caul' of the Wild sandwich, which is
roasted cauliflower with silken tofu-harissa spread, pistachio and macadamia dukkah, green tahini, spicy greens, and pickled jicama on a poppyseed kaiser roll. It tasted good, but was very messy to eat. The sandwich is served with a bag of Tim's potato chips. I realize it's convenient to use bags rather than bulk, but it's wasteful. Even though I was quite full, I ordered a marshmallow ice cream with Oreo shortbread crunch. Unfortunately, they don't offer a vegan cone, so it's served in a cup. I requested no spoon, but was given one anyway. The soft serve had a hint of marshmallow flavor, but I particularly enjoyed the Oreo crunchies.

Pros: outdoor seating, lots of vegan ice cream toppings

Cons: crowded, limited vegan ice cream flavors, disposable ice cream cups and spoons

An ice cream destination

We live not too far away and most of the local spots I would classify as ok in a pinch but not a destination. I would make this a fun destination for sure. The spumoni special is vegan, they rotate monthly, as noted below me, and yes that same one, and is such a special treat. I don't think I've ever had such a creative, well thought out dessert before.

While I was only there for ice cream today, my crew has been several times and have gotten the cauliflower with great enjoyment and they seem willing to accommodate. There's a few vegan items marked clearly, they have specials, and everything tried by my guys were enjoyed thoroughly. Everyone there, and its a big hopping crew, they were busy, was in a good vibe, happy place makes a fun spot to stop actually fun. Really glad they extend this fun and happy times in a sweet spot to vegans as well.
must stop if up the Gorge and consider coming around anyhow...

Cute

Nice little place to stop out near the Columbia Gorge. Seems like they always have 1 vegan sundae and 1 vegan lunch option but it rotates. I enjoyed both sundaes we tried!

Vegan options!

Passed through Troutdale just to eat at this place! Ordered the Caul’ of the Wild cauliflower burger a few weeks ago and I see it’s not on their menu today. They now have some different vegan items on offer. Looks like they change their menu with the seasons. Nice! The food was good and the staff great. The cauli burger also came with an option to have it as a rice bowl instead of in a bun which I kind of wish I would’ve done. A bit too bready with the cauliflower. My mom had the Sugarpine salad which she thoroughly enjoyed. But the dessert! Strawberry cheesecake sundae! Wow! It was a coconut based vanilla ice cream and strawberry sorbet combo covered with strawberry sauce and cashew cheesecake bites. Yes, please! So great to have a creative and delicious vegan dessert option at a drive in! Vegan items/options are clearly marked on their menu. A great stop for lunch!

The Caul’ Of The Wild sandwich was delicious and filling but I came hungry

Between sandwich, sweet potato fries (with ketchup) and the ice cream sundae, I was very satisfied. Combine that with friendly service and the beautiful and scenic setting and it’s well worth the trip!
