Yummy vegan spot - Edit
This place is attached to the healthy grocery store and has minimal seating. But we had no problem snagging a couple seats at their little bar. We both had a sandwich with a salad. Delicious and filling vegan food!

There is not a lot of seating (5 stools) so you may have to get it to go.
It is also connected to a natural food store.

Read moreI went to sugar apple organic Cafe every single day of my stay at key west, not because the food was any good but only because it was the only organic fully vegan place I found there.
If anything the portions were small and the food was the equivalent of what I would quickly make at home if I wasn't in the mood for cooking but it was vegan and organic so there I was.
I am a foreign diplomat and have a tax exemption card from the US government which means that by law no business in the US can charge me for tax. This is stated very clear on my card which is signed by the US government.
On the first 2 days I went there I presented the card to the person behind the cashier and had no issues whatsoever. On the last day the owner happened to be there and let me tell you that in my 37 years on this planet and after serving my country in China, Colombia, México, Middle East and other countries, never have I ever encountered such degrading and humiliating service.
Not only did the owner charge me tax but he argued that it was just a dollar and a half and isn't a big deal. I explained that my card was accepted in his store the previous days and that by law he is not allowed to charge me tax and that it wasn't a matter of how much the tax was more of principal. He then got even more aggressive and and told me he basically didn't feel like doing it cause he didn't have a computerized system and he wasn't going to open a file for me. He could have easily found another solution like discounting the tax equivalent, after all like he said it was only a dollar and a half. I told him what he was doing was a federal offense and he told me not to trouble him with my nonsense!!!
He then had the odesity to ask me if I wanted to leave a tip?!? And I said no thank you, he then started laughing and said well I guess you guys don't top either!! After I left a tip every other day I was there. I mean this guy couldn't get any more rude.
I called the ministry of foregien affairs and they should take care of it but I highly encourage you to stay away from this place.
I believe as vegans our main goal is promoting kindness to all living creatures and that is definitely not what this guy represents.

What an Amazing Vegan Find! - Edit
We found Sugar Apple Organic Cafe & Market after reading about it. We were intrigued that it was the only all vegan cafe in Key West and went to find out what we would order for lunch. We rode our bikes and found this small cafe tucked in aside adjoining market. The staff was super nice and welcoming. I ordered the FLT, fakin bacon, with lettuce, tomato and soy based mayo on a multi grain bun. Delicious! It really brought me back to the BLT of old, but waaaay better. I chose an organic blueberry and banana smoothie to go with the FLT. My friend got the pesto salad and it was amazing too! What a find! We will be back.

Extensive market with toiletries and groceries. Great one stop shop. Delicious juices, smoothies and sandwiches. The marinated tempeh was scrumptious, with an ample salad of greens and veggies. I could do lunch here every day.

Read moreThe hotdog was literally a vegan Vienna in a brown hotdog bun with some grainy mustard, not other sauce. It was dry and I didn’t enjoy it at all.
My husband’s beyond burger came on sandwich bread. This also made it quite dry and it wasn’t stated that it would come on a Burger bun.
The small area to eat in is also not very appealing. It would be nice if they expanded that a little.
If you want nice atmosphere and nice vegan food in Key West, rather go to Moondog or The Cafe.

Found this place thru the app and it lived up to the photos and reviews. I had the vegan tempeh sandwich and it was glorious! Came with a generous side salad with a delicious dressing. I’ll be back to try many of the other great looking items on their menu. Place is small with limited outside and indoor seating so I took my food to go.

This was the only all vegan spot in Key West so of course I hit it up! I am not sorry I did. I got the Tempeh Reuben and was pleasantly surprised how amazingly delicious this sandwich was! It came with a side salad that I got the sesame tahini, it was very tasty and had a great flavor. The sandwich was very flavorful, sometimes tempeh is too hard for my preference, but this one was just the right texture and the flavor was perfect!! This is one great spot, come check it out, you won’t regret it!!

Not only is this the only fully vegan place to eat BUT it serves terrific food... Great to grab lunch, a juice or smoothie... Very minimal bar seating, not too comfortable, so best when on-the-go... Always surprised they haven't tried to expand somehow, no doubt it'd be a success, but this quirky little place is not to be missed

We found this 100% vegan place on Happy Cow and were not disappointed. We got the burger with vegan cheese and fake bacon plus side salat with awesome key lime vinaigrette. Everything was super fresh and tasty. Check it out!
