素园, at 北京路225号南胜东里5号, is a vegetarian restaurant on 2 floors and has a little shop. Located in a small lane next to Beijing road at Danang road junction - once you see a sign for "Mint Leaf" restaurant turn in to that lane. Has menu with photos but no English. Take metro line 6 Beijing Rd exit B. OCT/NOV 2017 REPORTED CLOSED/SHUT.

Hidden Buddha lunchstop

The place is a little off the road. An escape from the usual business of Beijing Lu, it is a Buddhist themed restaurant. Fake meat and all, but I ordered simply. The menu is translated, but I communicated via tech with the waiter. The bill was light on the pockets and served complimentary tea.

Pros: Cheap, many vegan options, friendly atmosphere

Cons: building is old like others in Beijing Lu
