Okay...

Seemed very dead when we arrived. Ordered some bean curd, greens and fish for my partner and you can tell that everything was cooked from frozen and didn’t taste amazing. The best part was the fresh watermelon juice. I don’t think I’d return. Not a buffet.

Not a vegetarian restaurant any longer

This doesn't appear to be a vegetarian restaurant any longer - normal Chinese restaurant without vegetarian dishes on the menu. I even asked the waitress/receptionist and she said no.

Not a fan but..

They're on the expensive side compared to the other veggie buffets in Guilin, and they're more on the looking good compared to the tasting good side. But it's ok, and I'm sure you'll find some stuff here the others don't have. Vegans might be appalled by the display of boiled (and fried) eggs, I'm not a fan either, but they're just that: boiled eggs.

Pros: Lots of choices

Cons: Expensive, More into looks than taste

Only OK considering venue and price

At here in late September 2017 as a change from the excellent Nengren temple.

Go in through the main gate of the hotel/convention centre from Ronghu Nanlu and walk diagonally to your right. The restaurant will then be on your left at the side of the main convention hall.

The buffet is quite different from that at Nengren temple. The cooked foods are served in small dishes which sit on top of steam/hot water baths but these aren’t very effective at keeping the food really hot. Having it already served in small dishes means one can’t take as little as one wants to (e.g. to try something one is unfamiliar with). Moderate variety of foods of good quality. The biscuits and cakes all seem to contain eggs.

Setting /décor is a bit more upmarket than Nengren but at 48CNY per person, a $$ seems fair. Overall, for us it doesn’t match Nengren.

Pros: Food good, A bit quieter than Nengren

Cons: Food being served in small dishes , Cakes and biscuits being non-vegan

Excellent upmarket buffet

I think the previous 1 star rating is extremely harsh. Yes, it's an unfortunate oversight if the ice creams aren't pure vegan, but nobody comes to a Chinese buffet like this for a magnum. I don't think it should detract from what is an excellent buffet - one of the best I've been to in China.

None of the staff speak English but at reception there's an English information/instruction sheet and once in the buffet it's pretty self explanatory. At 48rmb it's about twice the average Chinese veg buffet, but definitely worth it in my view.

Tons of choice, I think you could eat a few times and still not try everything. Also a very wide range of dessert choices (much more than the typical buffet) and a few juices and water. Didn't see any soya milk but could have missed it.

I arrived just as dinner started at 5.30 so not sure how crowded it gets, but you have your own booth with a view of the river if by a window.

Su Yi Ge, Guilin

My Mandarin speaking co-diner asked the manager about the stock of pre-packaged ice cream this place sells (there's a freezer of approx 8 different kinds of such ice cream). The manager said that they don't screen the ice cream to ensure that it is a vegetarian product.

In the buffet they use egg and dairy.

Cons: Management don't screen all products as vegetarian
