Yes a great stop off between the North and South! Good vegan options. - Edit
Food was delicious & arrived quickly - I had the vegetable stack sandwich and my family had amazing pizzas. They have huge capacity, so don’t worry when you see the big car park filled with cars. The grocery is like a health food shop & organic green grocers with a florist! They also sell antiques, crafts, gifts and all things gardening.
Read morePros: The food was delicious , It’s a delightfully, well organised, eco business!, The location- easy to find & park etc
Cons: The grocery was quite pricey , The cafe can be noisy depending on where seated.

Lovely place - Edit
You get all the nature surrounding the restaurant mixing with bakery store, flowers, etc. Food taste nice and fresh. When we were there it was full of people even during normal weekday. Staff are friendly and food comes in fast after order shortly.

Busy, friendly café and shop - Edit
(Update Feb 2023:
Read moreFewer vegan options now than before, though the marinara pizza was delicious and there were three vegan cakes on offer. Vegans are a bit of an afterthought - this place is firmly focused on eggs and cheese unfortunately.
Shop still lovely, with lots of interesting vegan chocolate and storecupboard items.)
..............
It's always packed here when we visit.
The menu is interested and varied, however on my last visit the staff seemed unsure about which options were vegan, and my food arrived with cheese on it and had to be sent back. (I've put up with that in non-veg restaurants, but a place like this should know better).
When the correct food arrived it was delicious, however, and the coffee is great. We had the vegan soup which was spicy tomato, chickpea & orzo (it arrived with wheaten bread and butter, which I couldn't have, though my mother informed me it was lovely!) and mushroom, spinach & confit garlic bruschetta, without the parmesan.
I also adore the shop and spend a fortune when I'm in, on their excellent fresh veg (it's the only place to get turmeric root in the area) and store-cupboard stuff like apple cider vinegar and miso that's tricky to get in Newry

Not worth the hype - Edit
For a long time people had told me to visit Strandfield but unfortunately I was met with disappointment.
Read moreI was only able to find 2 definite vegan options as everything else seems to be egg based if not dairy or something else. I had their salad bowl with avocado and quinoa (if I remember correctly) and it was nice but that’s just not the kind of food that I look for to fill me. I also had a pizza that to the best of my memory just had whole cloves of garlic (roasted) as a topping and that’s it. It did taste nice but again, didn’t blow my oven baked pizza out of the water and certainly didn’t give me a lot of confidence eating all that garlic.
Having mentioned options, I will say that they’re almost impossible to find due to the mystery of disappearing menus. You place your order at the counter therefore you only get a brief look at the menu while waiting in the line (which usually extends out into the front garden). Sometimes the menu is not there so have fun with that one. It’s also taped to the board so if you dream of checking the back of it for allergens then hold onto that dream because that’s all it will ever be.
The 2nd and last time you come across the menu is at the counter while you’re ordering. It’s once again taped to the counter so I’m afraid you’ll need your epipen for the visit. (Or just ask about the allergens and whoever is taking your order will make sure that you know how much of a chore that is for them). Regardless, the last thing I want is to be rushed to order food while not given the chance to look at the menu.
I and the people I have visited this place with had a unanimous “it’s okay I guess” overall reaction with two lingering thoughts- not worth it and lovely garden.
Pros: Nice garden to look at, Big car park, Relatively central- just north of Dundalk
Cons: 2 vegan options, No menus, Not the friendliest

Best vegetarian cafe on the island - Edit
I absolutely love this place, and make sure I stop on every trip to/from Dublin up north. I have never eaten the same thing twice at this cafe as I want to try everything and I have never been disappointed. Would gladly take anything off the menu. The "red eggs" were especially memorable and the pizzas are delicious. The whole place is such a great business, with fresh options both in the cafe and in the fresh food and flower section. Just off the motorway outside, Dundalk. Definitely worth a stop if you are passing by, or even a dedicated journey to check it out.
