Lots of tasty vegan options

While they do serve eggs and dairy, half of the menu at least is vegan so there are plenty of options to choose from. I got the tofu scramble which was very tasty and filling, also reasonably priced. Staff were lovely and the cafe had a nice relaxed atmosphere with both indoor and outdoor seating. Accepts major credit cards including Amex

Tasty food, friendly staff

Was hard to make a choice from the delicious sounding options but was certainly happy with my potato hash decision! Staff were friendly and the vibe of the Cafe is super cute and chill.

Good - worth visiting

My reviews are based on when I can visit due to parking issues in Hobart.
I can only manage to get here on a Sunday morning - and so I flip between this place and lotus as my morning go to treat.
I found everything here to always be good.
Friendly, versatility in food, happy to provide warm welcome, price value.
It's a good option.

Pros: Welcoming, Tasty food and good coffee, Interesting menu

Straight up good food.

They do some great western-style vegan breakfast dishes, in both sweet and savoury options. Fully vegetarian but not fully vegan.

Updated from previous review on 2021-03-19

Pros: Western style dishes., Sweet and savoury breakfast options., 100% gluten free kitchen.

Cons: A bit heavy on some of the spices., 1/3 of dishes are not vegan: cheese, egg, honey., Drinks are cows milk by default, +60c for vegans.

Great Waffles!

Great little café in Hobart, we stopped here for breakfast to try the Waffles, and they did not disappoint! The waffles tasted authentic and homemade and were quite filling. The coffee was nice. Could use more Vegan options though!

Pros: Vegan Options, Good Coffee

Cons: Could have more Vegan options.

Gluten free, then check it out

If your gluten free, then this is the place for you. If your not and looking for vegan options then you may be a bit underwhelmed. Solid coffee.

Pros: Vegan options, Friendly staff, Good coffee

Excellent lunch and friendly service

4/6/22 I came back for breakfast today. I had the waffles and they were so good! The meringue and lemon curd were also delicious. I also got the reboot juice which was the most amazing juice. The coffee was great too

I came here for lunch and it wasn’t long from closing time so we got a table and were served promptly. I ordered a bannutter smoothie. I really liked that all the smoothies were vegan. I couldn’t decide between the menu items but when I saw they had soup as a special, I had to order that. It came with a piece of bread. I liked the flavour of the soup and the toast was lovely too. The staff were so kind. I asked for a vegan cake to take away and I just finished eating it which was delicious. Really enjoyed my visit and the cafe seating is great

Had an absolutely delicious brunch here this morning!

I had a lovely brunch, gluten free brioche roll with scrambled egg, halloumi, aioli and
Leaves and chutney. It was just so well cooked and put together, even a sprinkle of ‘black seeds’ just as i would have done at home! Took my husband back for lunch and he had the porridge which was lovely as well. There are loads of vegan options and the gluten free goods are actually tasty and a nice texture!
Restored my faith in eating out!
Staff were lovely too.
Good coffee and tea.

Pros: Really well cooked and presented , Great coffee, Reasonably priced and nice staff

Cons: None

Good breakfast

The cafe was already packed when we arrived around 8:30am, so we were seated at the table in the back. The person serving us was friendly and service was quick. I ordered the granola ($15), which was generally quite good and not overly sweet, but had about five huge chunks of dried fruit - pineapple, apple and grapefruit - which I found unpleasant in texture and flavour. One of my companions couldn’t finish his waffles, so I did and they were delicious ($16.50); but I tried another companions’s brown rice and buckwheat porridge ($17) and it was not.

Pros: Good granola , Delicious waffles

Cons: Unpleasant porridge , Chunks of dried fruit in porridge too big

Cornbread & Coffee

Some of the best cornbread I’ve ever had, and delicious pour overs. Brilliant organic homemade food, but welcome and popular feeling.

Good coffee

Fantastic coffee, lots of vegan options, and the meals are a good size. A good variety of both savoury and sweet brunch options. Some of the cakes in the cabinet are vegan, just ask the staff to point out which. The brownie was lovely, but we found the coffee walnut cake very mushy

Pros: Lots of vegan options, Good coffee

Awesome breakfast!

Been for only 2 days in Hobart, and luckily went to have breakfast both times there. Absolutely delicious, made with love, in a very nice cafe. Loved it.
Their take away pastries and breads are amazing too!

Amazing vegan + gluten free cafe

This is an awesome little cafe. Mostly vegan with some vegetarian options, and everything gluten free! So many delicious vegan dishes on their menu as well as vegan bagels, muffins and treats. Great service and a good atmosphere. Would 100% recommend.

Great vegan selection

A vegetarian cafe with plenty of vegan options, Straight Up is worth revisiting— we went there twice during our short stay in Hobart. The beans on toast with sauerkraut was great, as well as the soba noodle dish. Most desserts are vegan and also gluten-free, and the coffee is very good.

Pros: Good selection , Good service

Cons: A bit on the pricey side

Amazing food & coffee, nice staff

Went here for a breakfast and coffee. We had a chickpea omelette and smashed bananas on toast, both really delicious. Their coffee is excellent too!
