Schnitzel burger was great!

Only tried the schnitzel burger which was really good, served with chips. Had a panic after biting into it thinking it might've been Quorn (intolerance) but the chef was kind enough to bring out the box and show me it was soy / wheat protein, putting my mind at rest.

Pros: Friendly chef and staff, Good burger

Had the schnitzel

Schnitzel was good but gravy is a must for me, so I brought Gravox powder in a jar, asked for a mug of boiling water, mixed it up and voila! Worked a treat.

Ocean-side pub feeds

One of a very small handful of vegan friendly places on Straddy. Food was generally pretty uninspiring, but was happy to have a few options as we ended up here a few times with our group of friends. Despite this place being over-priced (like most things on the island), it’s slim pickings for vegans over here so you take what you can get. This place gets packed out on the weekends and can be 1 hour for food so be prepared for a wait. The view makes everything better 🌊

The plant based burger is ALMOST vegan except for the milk bun, and you need to pay $5 to upgrade to the vegan & GF bun which makes it $29, bloody absurd. Wouldn’t recommend that one.

They also do a vegan schnitzel which was very plain (the salad didn’t even have dressing), but was a decent serving size for $24 and the schnitty was tasty.

The poke bowl is annoyingly not labelled vegan but it actually is, and was by far the best thing I tried here. $24, but it’s a huge serving with lots of fresh veggies, chickpeas, mango, black rice and a nice sesame dressing.

Pros: views, island vibes

Cons: inconsistent labelling, over-priced (especially the burger)
