Yumyumyumyumyum in Stereo - Edit
Great central location, I would have gone here more than once but I wanted to try as many places as possible. I ordered a forgettable salad (only because I felt like I needed some greens) and Buffalo cauli wings and lemon cheesecake plus a pint of cider. What a delicious meal. I was stuffed full. It was maybe the best lemon cheesecake I have ever had - tart and sweet with a scrumptious crust. This place was PACKED and it was a Tuesday afternoon. Vegan food in Glasgow is ubiquitous and delicious and this place is a gem. YUM.

Lovely food and atmosphere - Edit
The haggis was delicious, the beer refreshing and the atmosphere delightful. The music can be loud, particularly if there's a gig on downstairs.

Cool - Edit
It's a quite british crazy bar, the music was too loud for me (went there in the afternoon) but the burger I had was good, just huge so I couldn't finish all fries.

Amazing place!!! - Edit
Always missed vegan pubs/bars like this, the only one I've ever been was in Vilnius, and due to COVID crisis closed permanently. We were starving and arrived there almost at 6 pm, ordered two main dishes (forgot their names) and 2 pints of the guest draught (with cassis, sour and delicious!). For dessert, the cannoli. Everything's perfect! Service, food, drinks, also it is a political space (vegan is nothing more than political) and I really LOVED that and felt myself safe there. Long life to the Stereo!!!

Fab as ever! - Edit
Went for a blowout meal tonight and it was so worth it. Had been worried reading some reviews as I've always found the food in stereo to be awesome and thankfully it was just as good 😍 we got the mushroom pierogi and buffalo cauliflower to start...the cauliflower was amazing as it always is but another review convinced me to get the mushroom pierogi and all I can say is WOW, possibly the best thing I've ever eaten!!!! It tasted absolutely insane, so delicious! Then we had the chip supper and the burger, both with a metric ton of chips 😂 I got the cannoli for dessert which was absolutely gorgeous! I got a panther milk too which is supposed to be like baileys but it was crap compared to the m&s vegan liqueur. So at least I know before I shelled out 30 quid for a bottle online! But anyway, food was absolutely fab and service was efficient and friendly ✨️🌈☺️

We had the bourguignon which was absolutely delicious but didn’t have much seitan in, the mushroom dumplings which were lovely, nooch fries and cauliflower wings. The cauliflower was a bit hard but the sauce and skin was delicious.

Good food, nice place - Edit
It's a nice place, a bit alternative, with good food. Unfortunately the waiter forgot to put our order in the system, so we waited really long without anything coming. At least they took the most expensive dish from the bill for compensation.

Some proper vegan dishes full of taste - Edit
I tried a daily soup and the chilli and garlic chips. They were both amazing, rich flavor and proper texture. However the chips deserves a 5-Star treatment. The way it has been fried and the flavours opening up in the mouth is a MUST experience. 🤤

Poor food - Edit
The banana blossom fish was super soggy and was a very off putting texture. Massive portion but really not great and didn’t taste fishy at all. Had nicer fake fish from Aldi tbh. Nice wee side dips but £14 for side dips and chips is a bit steep when the main part of the meal was rubbish.

Great new menu - Edit
I’ve enjoyed Stereo for years and years. Was excited to hear they had a new menu in place and sampled from it before a gig downstairs.
Read moreWe had the buffalo cauliflower and mushroom pierogi starters, both excellent. Then the Tempeh Bourguignon with parsley mash: delicious rich gravy, a real winter warmer. To finish, the plums in hot port and muscovado and the chocolate torte, again both delightful.
As we were also going to the gig, we got a discount on our main courses, an added bonus.
Service was attentive and helpful despite the place being really busy.
Pros: Vegan safe space, Great food

Refunded - Edit
A review from 3 weeks ago said "high hopes unfulfilled" which is exactly how I feel.
Read moreOf all the vegan restaurants, I chose Stereo on my first night in Glasgow because I haven't had GF Vegan "fish and chips" since turning vegan 10 years ago and the dessert sounded nice too. Thought it would be fun with live music too.
It was my mistake thinking it was a restaurant. It's more like a pub in a dark back lane with a bouncer on the door. I didn't like walking to or from the venue.
I enjoy solo travelling and eating alone but feeling at ease is important. Here, I felt the staff were judgy that I was on my own.
There was only one table the waiter wanted me to have which was inches away from other people, facing the bar. I chose my food immediately but was expected to pick a drink just as fast. He was otherwise friendly, but different staff served me each time, who were aloof. A gig was on in a different room which was as loud as a concert. The tables were also too high. I wasn't relaxed at all, but I thought the food might make up for it.
Looked good when served, I was starving and tired. Tried cutting into the "fish" but couldn't. The batter was over-fried and the banana blossom was scorched and stringy and tasted vinegary and tinned, no fishiness or flavour at all. Authentic however, if you like the sensation of getting fish bones (see picture). I tried eating the chips but some were undercooked. Condiments and cauliflower were nice but not what I was there for. I felt queasy as I ate the batter.
I didn't want to complain but I genuinely couldn't eat it. I asked for the bill and staff gave me no chance to talk to them. When I got the bill I was left waiting miserably. I took the bill to the bar and they looked at me like I should have stayed seated. I said it was no one's fault, but explained why I had only eaten half. That waitress said she couldn't deal with it so walked to the end of the bar, to tell her superior who looked directly at me. She didn't seem pleased with the feedback but refunded the full meal which surprised me.
Appreciated the refund but I hope they take the feedback on board. No one who eats real fish and chips is going to become vegan after that. It was inedible to me, but I can only judge that specific meal. Sometimes places with good reviews get complacent. Maybe Stereo are having a bad month or maybe food quality suffers on gig nights...I don't know and sadly won't be going back to find out.

Pros: Unexpected full refund, fully vegan menu
Cons: Food, discomfort, moody staff
