Great breakfast option

Was traveling through Charleston and stopped here for breakfast. The bagels and vegan cream cheese are delicious. Good coffee as well. They have breakfast sandwich options, too.

Surprising find

Yummy breakfast, especially the vegan raspberry croissant. Milk substitutes for coffee.

Good option

If you’re looking for a vegan breakfast option this is a good place. They have vegan bacon, sausage, cheese, and some pastries. I enjoy an English muffin with vegan bacon, cheese, spinach, and onion. They sale vegan pepperoni rolls but I never can get my hands on one. They’re always out of them when I try to get one. I wish they offered oat or almond milk for their coffee. They have soy and coconut milk as an option. Overall it’s a neat little cafe that I enjoy.

Few options

Starlings makes an effort to serve vegan food, such as a vegan breakfast sandwich and fruit bar. The vegan breakfast sandwich is only served during brunch - so if you do not arrive early there is a big chance that they will run out. Coffee drinks are great and they have milk substitutes. Wish there were more options!

Perfect I-77 oasis

Whenever I'm traveling through Charleston, WV, I look forward to getting off exit 99 on I-77, and taking a half hour break at Frutcake. They're just a couple of blocks off the Interstate, yet in a quiet spot near a small dog park. I like the ambience: a modest clean coffee shop with pastry, soups, some vegan items, and a casual pace. Nice easy chairs for kicking back, reading a magazine or the newspaper, and relaxing. Plus convenient parking. And friendly staff.

Pros: Excellent pastries, Relaxing atmosphere, Clean restrooms
