Why doesn't my Dal taste this good?

This place is the best! The food is so good and the people know what vegan means (most of them). The menu isn't marked up very well though.

Here are some tips:
You can order the Chapati but make sure to ask that they don't brush it with butter.

For starters, The Alu Tikki and Bhajia are vegan. The vegetable samosas are not.

They have many vegetarian entrees to choose from and will sub coconut milk for many dishes if asked. The atmosphere is great and the service has always been warm and friendly.

Flavorful vegan appetizers & entrees

Star of India has been good to us. We appreciate the variety of choices. They have vegan appetizers, flatbread, and several vegan entrees. We’ve tried a bunch of them and all have been delicious and authentic.

There’s a dedicated vegetarian menu, with some additional vegan options scatters about the rest of the menu. But vegan items are not marked as such. We read the ingredients and also verified with the server before ordering.

The server was knowledgeable and suggested a vegan alternative to naan (chipati) and was able to quickly list which entrees and apps contained dairy and which were vegan.

Excellent food and service.

Note: Spice level is very midwestern-mild, so if you love Indian spices and some heat, order a spice level 3 or above.

Indian food

Ordered for delivery, does not have a "vegan" section so it's hard to tell what doesn't have dairy in it and looking up recipes for the vegetarian options some are made with yogurt. Just make sure to do your research before ordering. Also ordered vegetable Sambusa and it came with meat in it.

Pros: Delicious

Cons: Expensive and hard to depict what is actuallyvegan
