Puts the "Super" into supermarket! - Edit
This is "old school" grocery shopping at its finest. Lots of different items, fresh produce and helpful staff. One of the owners took the time to show me the frozen vegetarian selection as well as deli products. He was willing to order anything I wanted. Nothing else in Salinas comes close to meeting the needs of vegetarian/vegan shoppers.

I agree with Mandagrl! They have wonderful selection, great prices and very friendly staff members. I can never get what I came for only; I have to leave with at least 3 new things to try.

Wish I could change their name to Five Star Market - Edit
What's not to love about this store. It's small enough that the clerks and baggers know you by first name, but large enough that they carry a wonderful variety of local items such as breads, baked goods and some home gifts (aprons, candles etc.) All their produce is local and a good portion of it is Organic. The Produce staff is so great and willing to help you with suggestions or picking out just the right veggies for your culinary endeavors. They also have a great selection of veg products in the frozen and "deli" area along with an entire section just for organic/vegan canned and other staples.
