To My Disappointment...

Seen this burger joint floating around HappyCow (locally) and wanted to give it a go. To my disappointment when I arrived, I found out it was just a rebrand of Veggie Grill. They're food is ok (VG) but I thought it was an independent restaurant. But to the food, I got their double burger and buffalo chikn. It's tasty BUT...the price point and size is my con. Just around the same size/price as Next Level Burger, so iykyk size & price point don't meet. IMO, I'd rather pay the $2 extra (both burger and chikn sando) and go to Malibu's Burger in Oakland which is twice the size and filling. Which Stand-Up isn't (filling). A rare 3 star rating from me.

Vegan fast food FTW!

The shakes taste just like the real thing, and they even come with a cherry on top. I wish the servings were bigger, but I can’t complain with how delicious the food is.

Pros: All-vegan, Gluten-free options

Cons: Can take a while to get your order, Wish the nachos were bigger!

The dream 🍒

Loved this place. Convient, easy, fast and damn tasty.
I had the Santa Fe chick’n burger and a cookies and cream shake.
The burger was tasty and fresh, really nice.
The shake is fantastic, extremely enjoyable. Loved the cherry on top.

Wide selection of fast food

Great when you’re craving fast food and munchie type options. They recently expanded their menu to include not just burgers but Mexican food and bowls as well. I come here more often than I should

Great happy hour menu, annoyed they use Impossible for almost every burger

I’m against Impossible because they tested on animals & said they would do it again if “necessary” so I wish Stand Up Burgers used a different patty. I love the animal rights vibe of the place and the chick’n burger I had was good. Their shakes are good. And the Happy Hour deal is pretty good. I would love this place if they made their own patties or used another brand. You can sub for another patty but I feel like that patty isn’t as “meaty” and the problem is still that they use Impossible broadly.

Pros: animal rights vibe, happy hour deal

Cons: use Impossible for almost every burger

My Go-to Place

I adore standup burger and crave it far too much. Their shakes (especially the cookies n cream) are suburb and their brioche buns make their burger next level! They apparently have new items from their veggie grill store (their parent chain), so I’m excited to begin trying those!

Pros: All vegan, all delicious, Non vegans usually love , Consistently good deals

Another [Vegan] East Bay Night

Totally recommend, not only was the Buffalo Chick’n’ delicious- but the location of this place warms my heart… after scoring HUGE at Amoeba Records* (Telegraph Ave.) this was such a gem to have on my way back home!

I ordered take away (because I was with my fur pal), service was super friendly and the interior is wide and spacious!

PS, Vanilla Shake is as yummy as everyone says!

Burger & shake

Classic gas food set up. Not much of a atmosphere. Had the OG burger and a shake. [censored] blast
Only downside, makes it star down, is the price, since it’s impossible patty😡

So glad I went here

I wasn't initially planning to go here, but I'm so glad I did! I agree with the other review saying how the food here has very classic flavors. That was one of the first things that stood out to me. I tried the BBQ Bacon burger and it was delicious. Shakes were also fantastic. I came here with a non-vegan who was blown away by the blue cheese on their Steakhouse Burger. And a newly turned vegan who said the animal style fries here taste exactly like In-N-Out but better.

The food was super filling and satisfied a junk food craving while not being too salty.

Staff here was notably happy, dancing to music, and enjoying their time. It was a really comfortable environment. I also found it interesting that each time you buy burgers or shakes here, they donate a portion to local causes.

I tried the Og and Steakhouse Burgers, chocolate milkshake, strawberry lemonade, and the animal fries. The Og burger was delicious ! tasted like a regular cheeseburger however the Steakhouse burger wasn’t really giving, still yummy but not as good. Animal fries were 🔥 Milkshake and Lemonade were really good.

Cravings satisfied

Happy Hour 3-6 Mon-Thur!!

Alas i came after that option. Got the loaded Tots & buffalo crispy sandwich.

The Tots were delicious and everything i remember about chzy smothered potatoes. Yum! Would get an extra side of tots in the future cuz the container still had plenty of sauce and crumbles left. So good for 2 ppl or one big eater like myself.

The buffalo sandwich i got without ranch and onion cuz that's how it roll. It was tasty and fresh. I'ma try the chickpea patty next time w buffalo sauce and see what's up, cuz I'm more WFPB and that patty while it passed didn't do anything for me.

Will definitely keep the happy hour in mind whenever I'm in the area. $10 for a burger, chips and drink is a deal!

Pros: Cravings satisfied , Loaded tater tots, The music was awesome!!😎

Classic flavors!

The shakes here are the best that I have had! They even have a cherry on top. The food is reminiscent of Veggie Grill - duh. I am not a fan of burgers but my boyfriend who likes burgers say these are good. They have a falafel patty and chick-un patty. You can also make a meal of their loaded fries if you are not a burger person like me.

It reminds me of classic drive-in food! Quality and service is good. The restaurant is always clean!

Pros: Classic flavors, milkshakes - the best, clean

Lots of burger options and even a hot dog! Loved that the cream and ice cream are oat based and not coconut. A great place for a lunch meet up!

Decent Vegan Burger

I had the OG burger with seasonal fries. The burger was nice but nothing special. The fries were a decent size portion and were again, nice but quite boring. Their menu is good but they need a bigger variety of options other than burgers and chips; maybe some vegan nuggets or a hot dog. This burger was nothing special and you can get other great vegan burgers at other places. The seating area is just a fast food style vibe so pretty basic too. I like the ethos of this food place but overall it’s just typical fast food.

Pros: All vegan , Lots of burger options , Decent price

Cons: Limited menu, Basic fast food

Doesn't Stand Up for the Environment

I ordered the Crispy Chikin Caesar salad and a mocha shake. Our food was prepared to go even though we hadn't requested that. I [incorrectly] assumed orders would be served for dining in since that's how parent company Veggie Grill operates. I was extremely disappointed to receive the shake in a plastic cup (which I actively avoid). At least I asked for no lid or straw for the shake, but I was given a plastic fork for my salad in a disposable box. Ironically, their website states:

"Throughout the month of April, we’ll be giving back to Grades of Green by donating a portion of proceeds from every OG Burger sold! Grades of Green provides the youth of today the knowledge and resources to ensure a green future and make a positive impact on the environment."

There was even a sign on the table promoting this hypocrisy! Vegans often mention the cognitive dissonance of self-proclaimed "animal lovers" who also eat animals, but here's a vegan restaurant whose mission is:

"...bettering our community and improving the welfare of our planet, with every action we do. Stand-Up Burgers is committed to fighting for our environment, defending the animals we love, and giving back to the community we share."

My food was good, but I would not eat here again simply because of the waste and hypocrisy.

Pros: all vegan

Cons: everything is disposable, hypocritical

A Great Fast-Food Joint

Ordered a float and a Buffalo chicken sandwich.

I really did enjoy the buns they used and the chicken patty that they made. It tasted very flavorful and not just a grease sandwich! The float was great as well!

Highly recommend!

Pros: Very good food!, Indoor seating

Tasty - expensive - no parking

Too many brands to make their brand- should try making their own burgers and cheeses- probably why burger, fries and shake were 30 bucks- chili cheese fries were not very good- the art of the chili cheese fry pile is to find some crunchy crispy fries somewhere in the pile- these were drenched- every one- with spicy chili (which as a chili was delish), I would not order again - nor likely to seek this place out as I did- there are better places. Interior was a cool space - #Veganuary

Pros: All vegan, Walkable - not parkable, Well lit open space interior

Cons: Expensive , Not original nor creative

Truly satisfying burgers

Ah the burger and milkshake joint. Cue the movie date scene. But vegans can have it too! We had the impossible Tex mex burger and the free bird chicken burger, chili fries, and a chocolate milkshake. You’d never know this was all vegan it was so good. It’s a nice space, great menu, and decently priced. Two burgers and chili fries were $30 which would be considered a cheap date in the Bay Area. Golden Bears got their date spot!

Delicious burgers with a great mission!

I come here often to get the "Freebird burger" and chocolate shakes but everything in the menu is worth a try! Service is timely and they support local animal rights organizations as well which are Berkeley Humane and Direct Action Everywhere! Stop by here and support your local fully plant-based restaurant!

Satisfying Burgers

I finally tired the Impossible burger here, and I was pretty impressed! Definitely satisfied that occasional burger craving. Well cooked and topped, and went well with the lettuce wrap ( I tend to avoid those soft buns anywhere). Next time I’ll be asking for less sauce, though. Onion rings were very yummy, and fries too (though a little on the salty side even for me!). The shakes use oat milk.
We took our meal to go, but the space was alright, a little big and open. Service was very friendly.

Pros: Very good burgers and sides, Vegan!

Cons: A little pricey, but then the Impossible just are, Not the greatest space
