Always a few deli vegn options

We love knowing we can typically count on a vegan banh mi, fajita bowl or wrap from the deli. There usually pre-made grab and go options in the cooler as well.

Pros: Regular vegan options

Seasoned tofu for vegan banh mi. You can also buy some pre- packaged to go and it’s delicious at Saint Peter Food Co-op and Deli in St Peter

Excellent small-town co-op

The Twin Cities area has 12 food co-ops in 14 locations. This co-op in St. Peter is excellent especially given the city’s relatively small size (population 12,066).

There are lots of locally grown organic produce, bulk foods/spices/teas, plant-based milks, yogurts, cheeses and meats. Vegan shoppers won’t have a hard time finding something.

There is a hot soup bar with room for 3 types of soup. The day I visited there was 1 vegan soup (Coconut Curry Red Lentil) with ingredients clearly listed. There is also a bakery “grab and go” bin with labeled vegan items, and a nice salad bar.

You can take your deli food and drinks to a spacious indoor or outdoor seating area to eat.

Worth the trip

I am a member and regular at this co-op and I love it! They have a great hot bar, sandwich bar, salad bar, and burrito bar, as well as most of what you'd want at a co-op (bulk items, produce, frozen items, etc)

Vegan breakfast options are lacking but there are vegan and GF options at the deli, burrito bar and hot bar all have some vegan and vegetarian options. Their marinated tofu is fantastic and is an option for any of their sandwiches.

They also have seasonal specials. The blueberries and peaches they offer in the summer are great.

Pros: Nice staff, Clean, Lots of options

Cons: Honey often used as a sweetener for bakery items

One of the best Co-ops around!

The Saint Peter Food Co-op & Deli is a wonderful place to shop and eat a meal. The new store has everything you need - including friendly service. The deli has a variety of sandwiches and prepared hot foods. The new dining area is an excellent place to eat and relax. If you are in the area, stop by the new store.

Pros: Wide variety of local food, Unique items, Friendly service

Cons: Sometimes hot bar items sit out too long
